has anyone steam cleamed there engines, i have a 96X any problems with retarting after ?

Cover the usual stuff (battery, alternator, open air-filter if equipped).

Yep, just listen to the points that PLRBEAR made and you should be set. When you’re done steam cleaning it, I recommend you wipe all of the black parts (plastic) down with a rag and a light spray of 2 parts water to 1 part Armour-all, it does wonders!

I just did mine about two weeks ago with no problem. Well it wasn't an actual steam cleaning. I just took it to the car wash, sprayed the engine down with Castrol Super Clean (WAY better than Gunk engine cleaner), let it sit for a few minutes, and rinsed. It looked GREAT when I was done! errr I didn't cover anything, but it is definitely a good idea. :-) But it fired up with no problems at all.
