hey, i'm a computer nerd and i don't know a lot about my explorer, but i'll provide as much info as i possibly can.

i have a '94 limited with about 55k miles on it that has been taken very good care of. first of all i was wondering if anyone had specs on the engine in it (4.0L V6)? i've looked all over the net and come up with a couple confilicting numbers. stuff like hp, torque, etc.

also, recently if i drive the car harder than usual (like getting it up to 3500-4500 rpm, quick acceleration) i start to get a burning smell from what seems to be the back left area of the engine compartment (back meaning nearest the windsheild). recenly though it hasn't been doing it. was it just carbon or dust builup burning off? i never got around to asking a service tech about it.

the smell could be from your evap canister do a search.. 4.0 liter 160-horse OHV check out the link to the site above oo. that is a very informative site.
