i got a traxxas rustler and a rs4 nitro with a .12 engine. the rustler is pretty sweet. i'm going to buy mip cvds and bearings for it soon! i also got some kick butt 3000 mah batteries

everybody seems to think that an gas powered truck is so much faster then an elctric powered....wrong.

i've seen modified electro Maxx leave an T-maxx in the dust.....litterly....

If you build the truck right and you can supply enough power to the motors the truck will run faster then any T-Maxx, i guarantee it...it won't run but 2-3 min tops...but still....for an drag race i would definatly go electric over nitro any day.

i got an T-maxx with an Pico TLX-21 comp engine, the motor came of an kyosho inferno...with some mods i was able to nestle it into the T-maxx....the next mod is an 3 speed tranny with NO reverse...

no one is dissin the electric cars.... all my others were electri....tamiya grasshopper 2,blackfoot,panda stocker, boling digger, then t max....some others too ijust cant remember them now

I've got a Losi Jr T but haven't used it for a while. Next time to Truck Haven I'm going to take it.

i want to get a FAST gas powered RC car. my friend had one when i was younger. i dont know where to get them. my wife doesn't even believe they make gas powered RC cars. i'm glad to see this thread, now i can show her that they do.

I have an old school monster truck from Radio shack, I had to take it apart several times and fix it. I also have a Pontiac Firebird car that goes really fast also. Both run on batteries.

I have a Team Associated RC 10 T2. I've spent over $1500 on it. At first I had some serious glitching with it so I got new speed controlls and a lot of stuff for my remote, new battery packs wires, motors, and now the electronics are so screwy it runs it-self off the road it glitches so bad. I need to take it apart and rebuild it. But for the first 2 months I had it it was the greates thing ever.

I have a kyosho pureten, its my 1st hobby class r/c.. I know we've all had those radio shack ones heh, so I dont think that really counts from my past experience..

This thing is a nitro powered "rally" car with a .12.. I put rally in quotations cos I've already spent 1/3 the price of the thing new on repair parts because of sand and dirt. Guess it'll be street for a wihle.. heres a picture

These things look fun. I have a radio shack dodge ram 1500 but it has a weak front axle. I ran into something and broke it in half. On my second axle now.

my suggestion would be to go to a book store or a local hobby shop and find as much info as possible on whats out there. im more familiar with the electric ones. then you can go to www.towerhobbies.com or www.ehobbies.com to buy the stuff.

Well now I'm an owner, Tara just bought me a new T-Maxx tonight with her income tax returns... Well that and joined 24 hour fitness too... I really wanted a used Q45 but I won't bitch... I can't wait for tomorrow so that I can break in the engine and go out and play this thing... Hopefully I can get it running!!! After reading the book I'm kind of scared to get started... I'm assuming this is going to be more fun than my old Losi Jr II...

I've been racing r/c for 14 year's now. Started with Tamiya like most back then (backyard bashing) then switched to Associated when i got into competitive racing. Right now i run the Associated Factory Team B3 and hopefully the new car when it comes out after the world champs in South America at the end of March. I have been all around the country racing and have made a lot of friends thru R/C.

Have one, I fact two
Traxx race car with 13 turn motor w/ 78 tooth gear
and a baja truck
that has a 27 turn slot machine motor in that one

Both are quick
But i love that car the most
the truck is down for repairs
Also they are both electric

I have a Marui Galaxy RS. It is a RWD electric buggy with four wheel independant suspension and oil filled coilovers. I haven't used it in a very long time because a friend of mine wiped out on the beach and drove it into the ocean. I need a new speed controller, steering servo and receiver.

I've watched Heath with his T-Maxx and knew there's no way I'd have the kind of patience a nitro truck requires! I have to say though, when his runs, it kicks butt...

I've been in R/C for a while. i first bought and build an origional RC 10 Buggy. It was the one with orange aluminum tub chassis. It was a nice buggy. It isn't running rught now...needs a rebuild. i also have a pretty modified RC 10 T2 truck. This truck has a 12 trun double motor and has many upgraded parts. i have spent a lot on it, but it is faster then anything. It needs a tranny rebuild though (must be a ford tranny :rolleyes: ) After that and a tweak of the electronics it would be up for racing. My brother owns a RC 10 GT gas powered with a .12 O.S. CV-X engine. i must say gas is nice because of the long run times, but he has to mess with that thing more hten he actualyl drives it.....the engine will never start.

This is Patrick, Everyone better bring there remote trucks and cars to the BBQ next weekend. I will have mine with me..........

Well I just became an owner again... Tara got me a Traxxas Nitro 4-Tec for our annivesary.... Its freakin fast... 50 MPH right out of the box... I'm only on my fifth tank of gas though, so I'm not doing 50 quite yet...

I edited your poll because we have more and more Explorer Babes who are spouses so I added a choice for us. I'll let Rick tell about his. I have no clue, except they are electric. I bought one for him and he bought the other.

I started out with an R/C plane, spent $400 and 2 months to get it built (15yrs ago). I got to fly it a couple of times, then crashed big time. After I put humpty back together again I decided to try R/C boats (can't hit the ground from a 150ft dive at full throttle). Did that for a while then got tired of it.
Wife bought me a new toy last Christmas, R/C Truck - R/C Boat Combo. It has a trailer and everything, boat even floats off trailer when launching. I can't wait to take it to the boat ramp at the camp grounds we go to.

The wife got me a used HPI Nitro MT for my birthday. I've put a lot into it trying to fix all the previous owner broke. Dude didn't comprehend metal screws in plastic holes. Everything is stripped. But man does it run. I love to pull a hard four-wheel slide. Not a donut, just a good power slide at full throttle. Four wheel drive is a MUST for me!

Electrics are fast off the line, but I think most nitros have more top-end. I know mine will do about 45mph with the stock engine.

I have much bigger tires than stock (another bone-head thing the previous owner did), so it has no torque, but the top end is amazing. My next wish-list item is to get a hopped-up engine. The stock engine gets hot too fast and loses compression.

For Christmas, I got the Ex Sport Track body. I need to get some pics done.

I feel ya thar.. I have an MT myself. Got it used froma guy in newyork.If you dont have CVDs or metal turnbuckles GET EM hehe thatssome of the very 1st things to break. Overall the MT can out haul and out maneuver a t-maxx.. but dont you care compete in hill clumbing with one lol my friends maxx has a .21 with dual spools and it will climb hills like anything.

btw, if you're looking for some hop-ups.. paris racing makes a great tuned 1/10 scale tuned pipe. Its good for a little extra kick

to the guy who was asking about r/c shops around the pocinos,, there's one here in Williamsport that has very good deals, and can get ya anything, orders it all in and is ery competitive with the bigger warehouse chanes and such,, there's also a huggggeeeeee hobbie shop that has 3 tracks beside it in Easton PA.

i dont care what electric you have, what you've done to it,, how many turns your motor has,, and how many cells you run off whatever speed controler you run, i will eat you alive and do it on only 20% nitro to make it even somewhat fare,,,,,,,

i was racing once and on this track there was a table top jump, toped out at 4 1/2 feet, and i made the mistake of hitting it at the wrong angle of the straight,
it flew over the jump,track, and off the track, and head on into a cement pillar at right around 50mph
nuff said you can imagine the sound,, and then the damidge that race. lol

I have one, its a 2wd Stampede, one of the best out there I think, strong fast and fun. I wouldn't mind a T-maxx but Ill stick with my pede for now, may mod it to a 4x4 soon :)

I love rc cars and trucks! The trucks are great because you can go 4wheeling with damaging your real truck!! I have a 4-wheel drive wild dagger. It has the dual motors. It was pretty fast but with 4wheel drive it has allot of drag, but has great torque. I have even modified it, i put an electronic speed controll and wired it for less speed and more low end torque! I also took the springs and shocks from another one of my trucks and make a little lift kit for it! It is lifted quite a bit highter now and it gos alost anywhere!!! No more fear of rollovers!!!!! :confused:

i forgot to mention I also made my own spool locker and it works great!! basically in the bell gear housing in the rear end I shoved as much cutt up ruuber band material as i could in the casing, this keeps the bevel gears from turning with locks the rear end!! It works wonders and that was the best mod ive ever done to any truck real or rc.

Been flyin RC Planes for about 13 years now...never could get into RC cars/trucks, though, I must admit some of those monster 4x4's and the speed racers are pretty cool.

Actualy, untill sunday, I hadn't flown in almost 4 years....but I'm back in the saddle now and happy as ever.

Tammy just got her own race truck. She's had it just over a week and already been racing at the track in Georgetown. My HPI Nitro MT was waiting for a hopped up engine when we took hers to the track. She didn't do too hot, but it was her first time out and we both had a blast. We're already drawing up plans for a track here on the ranch.

She's got an HPI Nitro Rush, the 2wd stadium truck. We just bought a VW bug body and are half done with the stars and stripes paint job. (If you know Tammy, that's not a surprise. Everything she owns is red, white, and blue.)

I also just finished the install of my O.S. .12 ABC engine. It's got a smaller chamber, but MAN does it sound tough. Very throaty compared to the stock .15. I can't wait to finish the break-in and wind it up for real!!!!

have you seen the .21 swap for the t-maxx? i imagine that makes for some pretty good fun.

Man I gotta get another one! When I was little , like 9 those Tamiya's had just hit the state's and my Dad being the cool dude he is bought me a Tamiya super beetle, That thing weighed about 40# with it's torshion spring suspension, water tight case, plastic humped 7.2 V battery, metal gearbox, etc..it was a beast! Heavy duty!!! It had the self dampening rear shock setup and a ABS plastic body. They dont build them like that anymore.

Well I was hooked. That was it (probably the reason I love my BII so much now) I had two Grasshoppers, a Frog, A Hot Shot II, a RC-10 (the first edition) and a little gas RC-12. The hot shot got HEAVily modified over the years and was my favorite. It has a LONG travel suspension, 4x4 shaft drive, and a mean green motor, bearings throughout, etc... I loved those cars!

Then My parents gave them away! Thats right, when I was in college they gave all $10K worth of my R/C equipment away to the little kids next door. Obviously they didnt know the vavlue of such things. I had like 4 controllers, and 4 completely custom cars at the time. I have been sick over it ever since, and I have always wanted to get another car or two (one electric, one gas)

So maybe this year for X mas I will get one. Any suggestions? I have been out of the scene so long it's not even funny! Keosho (SP?) had just hit the market with their cars and the RC-10 (aluminum brass colored chasis) was still the "hottest" car on the racing scene.
So anybody got some good suggestions?

I prefer 4x4, one that I can put a Bronco body on.....and I thinkI still have a 4 channel pistol style controller laying around somewhere (I hope those things are expensive!!!)

I got the Tamiya Toyota bruiser, All metal chassis, three speed trans w/ reverse, hi-lo transfer case, locker in the rear, limited in the front. Need some parts and no one makes parts for this truck. got it as a present after I rolled my Adult sized Toyota, even painted it Orange to match! Awesome truck, will pull my kids aroung the yard in a wagon, when it was running..Need batteries and such, anyone know of a place thats carries old RC parts?

i dont know if there are any REAL r/cs that are explorers.... but there is an explorer sport body body that a very reputable company makes...... toys r us and the like have explorer r/cs.... they are cool for fun or to goof around with, but imho arent that good in general.... at least not compared to an hpi, traxxas, tamiya, kyosho, etc....

yes they make lexan bodys modeled as a ford explorer.

I got a T-maxx when they first came out. For 3 years all it was was problem after problem. It never ran cuz the Traxxas engine I got sucked and the tranny fell apart for no reason. And I wasn't a stupid newb to nitro RC's either. Finally one day up in Lake Arrowhead it just wouldn't start at all. So, I started stomping it. Now its in lots of pieces and I coulnd't care less. I'm probably just going to put in the 50 bucks to fix it and sell it as is on Ebay so I can get more money towards my truck.:D

I had a really cool electric boat that me and my boy used to bring out alot. Well, at the beginning of this summer I thought it would be cool to run it through some rapids at a local river. It was a blast running through them and then retrieving the boat where the river slowed a little, until...
I had no idea the darn thing would FLIP OVER! unfortunately you cannot steer or power a flipped r/c boat. We tried to chase it down river but the trail kind of ended and I lost it. Boy did I feel dumb, It was like a 100 dollar boat. I want a 4x4 one now, for obvious reasons. And a plane would definitely be a no no in my hands.

I haven't ever tried R/C cars, but I did the airplanes for about 8 years. I'd imagine most of the equpiment was similar to the car stuff, except the planes were 72mhz.

That was a lot of fun, and I miss the smell of nitromethane burning engines!

I used to race 1/10 electric race cars some 20 years ago but got married and that was that. Even had to give the kit away. So just recently started again:bounce:

It's a Bolink body. The big drawback is that it doesn't come with any stickers at all. Not even for the lights. What you see here is all custom work ;) (...customized with a sharpy marker and some white making tape, under the paint.)

When I was a kid I used to play with r/c 4x4 but I havent touched one in ages. Now I am totally into r/c submarines.
The fat one of the left is a Russian Typhoon class, scale 1/100. It dives statially, has twin contra rotating 6 bladded propellers, working periscopes, working bow and stern planes, retractable bow planes, running lights and a few failsafes.

WOW, those are very very cool.

I have an RC10GT and have a new .12 engine on the way. When this engine goes i am gonna go all out and either go with at .18 or get the .21 conversion kit. Then it would haul some MAJOR arrrs.

Yep I have 4. My first one I got when I was in seventh grade, a Bolink circle track car, upgraded it with a better coil over suspension, but it was too damn fast to control. I would get to about half throtle and the damn thing would break loose and spin, the second is a Futaba FX4 (i think) it's a stadium truck, really nice I put a full set of ball bearings on it and it hauled ass. The only problem with it is that for some reason it seems like the tranny slipped, I tightened it up but nothing helps. My third is a boat, a Super Hawaii (class II offshore race boat). It was really surprising at how fast it is. The only problem is that it came with a mechanical speed control, once the wiper arm must have vibrated alittle between the wiper contact and a resister and produced an arc, melting a contact on the resistor so I could only go in reverse, fixed it and it still works great. My fourth (and best) is my RC10 B3....awsome little car, needs a set of bearings but still extremely fast. I've though about selling one or two of them but I don't know if I could give up such cool little reminders of my childhood. Anyway, just thought i'd share my little collection.

Great Planes electric race boat.
1 competition 4 channel sailplane.
1 3 channel Spirit sailplane.
Now we are flying those small backyard flyer electric planes. They are a hoot...fly them in the street in front of the house, or at the local schoolyard.

Radio control is great for all ages. Plenty of action and just about any type of activity is available.

i have a tmaxx 2.5 right now the spur gear is broke, thx to my freind who didnt get the right meshing, and i just got my explorer so all my money is going towards to buy a radio it needs plugs im trying to save for a radar detector and some exhaust, its too quiet cant tell when to shift unless im lookin at the tach. but my tmaxxx is what i drive when im not messin w/ the x

I usually build my own planes........every type and size out there. Been flying models for over 30 years.
These new electric backyard flyers are really cool. Never thought I'd like them, but they are simple, fairly low cost, and best of all, hassle free.
My son and I are chasing each other with Hobby Zone Aerobirds. They are a COMPLETE kit...ready to fly in a couple minutes.
I don't usually have much luck with these ready to fly models, but I am impressed with this thing.
As a beginner, it helps to have someone who has flown before. Even as an Air Force pilot with a lot of flying time...I find these things fly much differently.
The good thing about the Aerobird......it is the ONLY airplane I have ever flown that I THINK a newcommer could fly without help. IT is that good!
Anyway, it someone does decide to fly one, I would still ask for suggestions from an experienced person first. I have taught many people to fly models. Very good hobby.

Siekyre- How did you Turbo the engine of your nitro stampede?

with rc engines there isnt a turbocharger, its merely a way that the fuel is introduced and combusted...... they have turbo sparkplugs that a very finnicky about tuning and are more for veteran racers/tuners

ok lets start the list.... i all started with the tyco r/c car the HI-JACKER..... hehe it was sooo bad ass.... hit this button and BOOM insta LIFT :) then it went on to the radio shack buggies..... then to the koysho BIG BRUTE, then a koysho rustler ST, then a origonal HPI RS4 with no options.... lol then now i got a nitro RS4 with ball bearings a .15 nitro star motor, 2 speed tranny, composite brake... and more goodies with a t/a body.... :) hella fast... will hit bout 65 or 70 mph :) but i cant drive it that fast hard to control.... :)

I have a R/C Camoflage HumVee... my dog didnt like it but I loved it... had it out a couple times on the lawn/driveway but mostly ran it through rooms on the first floor for fun. :)

- i've seen some home converted rockcrawlers in a rc magazine. most people seem to go for solid axles such as the kyosho mad force or tamyia clod buster.
other than solid axles you want to regear, run empty tires (no foam insert) and get some loose springs. locking the diffs is an easy oneway conversion.:p

this will probably set you back 500 bucks though....

if you're lucky you might find a vintage offroader on ebay.
they are elctric but still pretty cool!

Just recently bought a cheap little NICCO R/C Harley Davidson Edition F-150. Doesn't go very fast, has offroad tires, but is 2x4. Just kids stuff compared to what you guys got. Already thinking about tinkering around in it to make it go faster. It's electric of course.

I have 2 HPI nitro cars (1 belt driven the other is shaft drive) both are 4wd both kick ass next is a 1/4 scale truck with a chainsaw engine powering it!:D

When you say gas, you mean gasoline not nitro?


I have a nitro boat, but it needs carb tuning and I went through the hassel of fixing it all up from its junk state, and now I have no idea how to make it run well... I think I need a starter for it....

i have one, but dont play with it...its old and only holds a charge for like 5 minutes, plus one of the wheels doesnt spin...

r/c is awsome, i got a traxxas t maxx (the old version) with the new engine and i broke one of the from driveshafts going to my wheel. 2wd is crazy on ice. hey who thinks that electric cannot go as fast as gas? thats wrong. an electric car has been recorded at 111MPH!!! cant remember what is was but a tc3 had previously gone 90 sommod but it wasent recorded. i have a electric hpi rally car and even tho they only last a batterys worth there still a blast:cool:

There is a new store in town, the guy has a $3500 4wd Truck he claims will hit 75 MPH.(Not for sale-His own)

sorry for the dfdfdf thing. i tryed posting several times and it wouldnt work. i love my rally car. that thing has tonns of torque and if i want the wheels to spin all i have to do is throw in a fresh pack. sadly my esc (electronic speed control) doesnt like me and i havent drove it in a long time. kinda crappy because i put new cvds and shocks in it. hows the nitro rally?

Bottomlesspit, I gotta agree w/ u. This Christmas I used my money to purchase the Vortex Extreme from Hobbytron.com. Its so much fun to fly! It has taken some serious punishment too. I'm currently awaiting a new wing. Anyone interested in learning to fly an R/C aircraft should definatly check into these electric trainer birds. Anyone seen the jet powered models of fighter jets w/ retractible landing gear/flaps? There is a video somewhere on Mustangworld.com of an F-15 some guy flys around, it can do like 400MPH. Anyways, heres what I fly around the local school yard.

It is cool. It is a lot bigger then I thought it was going to be. I can fit the 2.2” rear buggy tires on all four corners. All I need is a two speed tranny and I am going to convert it to street use. Even on the street it handles nice, its cool running on the street with the dirt suspension because you can really see the body roll and weight transfer going on!!

i should get mine out. i shuved a bunch of thumb tacks through the tires and on pavement the just bend but on ice it really gave me a boost. the problem is that my t maxx works and i drive that because its more conveient. especially because when my brother gave me the rally car chassis because he didnt want it anymore i had to replace the upper top shaft and it took 4 months to get one!!!. i find parts arnt readily available (because my hobby shop is an aftermarket full size car shop that sells tmaxxs and gas)so the only parts they carry are tmaxx and savage parts....id like to drive my rally car/or my explorer

I have had the same problems with hobby stores before too. I have three HPI’s two are rs4’s(nitro) for the street and the Nitro Rally. When I lived in Arizona I had a hard time finding parts for any of them. I just use the internet to buy parts. I would love to have a T-MAXX!! I know that would be fun, but everyone has one!! Look around on the internet dude and you will find what you need to make the rally bad a$$!

ya well i dont have a credit card so i cant really use the internet (or can I) i dont have any money right now either. i think the problem with my hobby resources is where i am(canada) but some day it may just have a 2 turn waterproof reverse super duper esc and graphite goodness.(my rally car) by the by having a tmaxx is awsome, sure everyone has one but that comes with good reason. there awsome.

Lastnight my servo Jammed on(A little wet maybe) and my car ran about 700 feet away, full speed and rammed into a cement wall.The gas was still on, the tires heated up and grabbed traction, and by the time I got to it the motor was on fire.:roll: So today I got a new motor.Holy crap.You know that thing that the back tires do on a dragster where they thin out when they do a burnout? Yea, I got that.The car is probably twice as fast.

Did you put the new 2.5 in your rustler (thats what it is right?) i put one in my tmaxx and its awsome...kinda sad tho in one aspect. it costs so much for a racing engine and the only reason regular engines arnt so fast as racing engines is because of stupid things, like how in my old trx .15 there exhaust port on the sleeve wasnt as big as the exhaust port itself on the block(loosing horsepower right there) all traxxas really did was use the knowledge they gathered from how much tests and use it to make this awsome 2.5" engine. if you look in the 2.5's exhaust port youll knowtice the sleeve is aligned just right with the exhaust port. glad i got the 2.5 thou

same kind and everything??? i know i have givin mine a sh*t kickin and it kinda holds the right to not work....just makes me mad...racing down the street and it just stops for no reason at all. grab it shake it and play with all the wires and put in a fresh pack and check my motor-ohh its working again. i wish <MINE> was more reliable. esc's are en excellent upgrade thou. you get a much more controlable braking and acceleration and you wast less batt to heat and resistance (resistance because the mechanical speed control relys on resistance to keep you can going slow on slow speeds) im not saying that esc's are bad...there less matenence than msc, im just saying mine works like a peice of sh*t:p

Put an Orion 11-turn in. The factory was a 20 turn.Of the 2 gears in there, 1 is metal.Will find the other in metal too.

i think i had a 17 turn double motor from speed gem. it was the amber one...was the lowest motor i could go with my esc and that was powerful enough to spin the tires on my rally car at almost any speed...that 11 turn must make quite the roosts of dirt when your puttin around )or at least once you get it back on the road) hopefully you driveshafts dont go the same way my t-maxx's driveshafts went (when i installed the 2.5 i broke one of the front ones in no time) now im stuck with rear wheel drive....at least once i get a new spur gear with all the teeth:rolleyes:

I'll keep you posted.....hopefully have time to fix on tues.

It Can't eat gears all day, It can only eat one set and then my day is done:D I haven't fixed it yet, been too busy.If it eats enm again I will put a smaller gear on the motor.

I just got done with a two day project. I compleatly tore down the nitro rs4-2 rebuilding it. It needed some serious attention, I have had it for almost four years and it is the first full tear down I gave it. I must say it rolls alot better now! In the morning I am going to fire it up and test it out. Soon I need to replace the old .15fe motor and tunded pipe. The little 15fe motor is not very powerful but it sure is diehard, almost four years of service and it still fires up!

glad to see that my comment on my crappy esc didnt phase you and make you rethink buying an esc. Truthfully the only advantage of a mecanical speed control is there cheap.

Right on, good to hear you went with the ESC. I have always used a ESC with the electrics, it’s like going from three forwards speeds to a wireless proportional drive by wire system.

general x: Have you been able to run the rally since you got it? What body does it have on it?

wow havent been on in a few days. Mike I have drove my rally car before. I got it from my brother when he didnt want it anymore and i fixed it up. Drove it for quite a while but i got tired of my esc messing up so i really got out of it. I need new top upper shaft gears and thats about it if my esc works. My hobby shop consists of a full size car mod shop that sells a few R/C cars and parts so when i want a part for my rally car i have to wait for them to get it. I dont really like waiting for them because when i needed my first top upper shaft it took 4 months to get from some Strike at some place or somthing

I have a nitro RS4, nitro Team Associated RC10 GT, nitro P-51 Mustang airplane, electric hobbico superstar select plane, nitro US Aircore plane, and nitro P-47D plane.

I bought one a couple days ago, still waiting for it to come in. :)

I got a Smartech 1/10 AWD with a .15 engine in it. It's a Skyline, but I will probably change bodies. It's got a stock top speed of 55mph. Hopefully I can find a place to run it. Parts are supposed to be interchangable with Traxxis and HPI, so we will see what I can do with it. I'll probably do something with the exhaust first, squeeze a little more out of the .15...then when I blow it up, I will see just how big of an engine it can take...I'm sure I'll have to start replacing driveline parts. ;)

ha ha ha id like to see how big an engine you can get in their. I know for the t-maxx you can squeeze a .70 in their with a kit. A FLIPPIN .70!!!! holy crap, a .21 is a powerful engine and my .15 is rather powerful but a .70. They were put in the EK4 and that truck couldnt keep its wheels on the ground (The front ones of corse)

How did you decide on the Smartech? I hear a lot of the parts break pretty easily and the engine isn't that great. I will be interested to hear your reviews on it once you've bashed with it for a while.

Well, price was right, and I'm just getting into this, so I don't want to invest a lot of money into it yet. Besides, the parts are interchangable with HPI and Traxxis, so if those are any better and I need to replace parts, I will upgrade to those.

bascially, if I decided to get into this more, I full expect to replace just about everything but the chassis itself, so it doesn't matter to me much what's on it right now. :chug:

If you plan to upgrade, it probably will have saved you money (and headache) in the long run to go with an actual HPI, Traxxas, or team Associated vehicle, which you're probably do anyway once you get more experienced.

I got the car in today. It seems to be ok. My only real complaint is that within the first few pulls of the cord, i broke the pull cord. The handle came off and the cord coiled up inside, so I had to take the engine off and get it back out and together.
Anyways, it seems to run good, a little rich for now til I break it in.

The steering was off a good bit though, and I straightened it out with the trim adjustment on the transmitter. Does anyone know how I can adjust it on the car so that I can set the trim back to the center? I see a linkage behind the left front wheel with a nut on it, but I don't wanna go adjusting stuff until I know what to do...

And one more thing...I know the car will run better as it leans out, but I don't want to overheat it. How can I tell when I've gone far enough with that, as to not overheat and kill the engine?

In regards to the steering, another way to adjust your steering is by adjusting the steering servo. Make sure it's at neutral. Check out the instruction manual.

In regards to the engine heating, you can waste more money buying a temp gun, or you can do the ole "spit test. If you drop some water on the head and it sizzles away in split seconds, the engine is too hot.

Thecause17- If you understand tuning your engine youll knowtice when you need to richen and lean your engine. A suplement DVD that came with my 2.5 engine for my t-maxx cleared up everything i didnt understand about the tuning of the engine

When your tuning you should always be able to see a blue cloud of smoke, if the truck starts to bog or stall when accelerating after leaning the mixture the mixture should immediatly be richened because its too lean. Also if you can knowtice the power difference detween ajustments, you should stop leaning when one of the signs listed above appear or you feel you are getting no more extra power by leaning

I've got a HPI Racing RS4 3 SS, F-150 4X4 with a 1hp gas (nitro) and 2 speed tranny and lots of billet parts (control arms and other bits). I run Futaba electronics. HPI claims 45 mph. I'm not sure if this is true, but it definitely moves! If you're looking for info HPI has a pretty good site w/lots of useful links (hpiracing.com).

I've got a losi xxcr Kinwald ed. buggy, and an old school associated RC10. The Losi is light and fast as hell and the rc10 is just plain old bulletproof. Good clean fun. They allow me to try things that you only see on "The Dukes of Hazzard". And alot cheaper to fix than a full size. :D

Hi i have an rc plane. It has a .72 engine and a 66 inch wing span and is approx 65 inches long see pic if it loaded. estimated top speed is bloody fast.

I'm down to two RC's (Losi XXXNT and HPI Savage SS), but I've owned about 20 over the past 7 years. Just cars for now, though I'd like to get a park flyer or small heli in the future (I've been playing with Real Flight G2 for a while, so I know what it's like to fly them).

How do you like RF G2? I enjoy my rc cars, and i am a avid flight simmer. I have been thinking about getting Real Flight. Do you think it is worth the money?

I haven't flown a real RC plane or heli yet, but RFG2 seems to be well worth the money if you are interested in getting into RC flight or just want to "fly" RC without worrying about the cost every time you crash (which at the beginning will be pretty often, haha). From what I've heard, transferring from RFG2 to the real thing is very easy (meaning its physics are pretty realistic), and once you get ahold of basic flight, you can increase the challenge and make it more realistic by adding wind, mid-flight problems, practice dead-sticking a plane/autorotating a heli, etc. Much more worth the money than Real Race was, IMO.
