Don't get my wrong... I love my car... but my dad has one too and he has soooo many problems.. I'm worried ill have to go through all this crap. Have any of you experienced problems with yours after like 50,000 miles. His power steering just went.. I guess a hose was leaking.... Thats the most aggrivating part of these cars...the damn problems.....will it ever end... ?

You'll always have problems with every car you buy. Just watch out for the tranny that seems to be a big problem with the x.

Hey, my other car, '90 Honda Accord just broke 174k last week and not one single problem. Those d**n Hondas don't die, even if you try to kill it!!! My '96 Explorer, 56k, had 5 problems already since I bought it last year. It's better than the '00 Grand Cherokee I had though. It was in the dealership more than in my garage.

There are cars that never have 1 problem. My uncle has had 2 of them. First was a 94 honda accord 4 door with a 4cyl. He drove it 110,000 miles with only maitance, & oil changes. Never did he have 1 problem with it. The second was a toyota. Forgot which one, but it was a 98, he put over 70K miles on it. Again never had 1 problem. Altough it was hit hard by a stupid deer one night, & that was the end of that. Cars do have problems, & yes he now has had some problems with his new honda, but it's luck, & life.

I basically welded the hood shut on my '96 Ex until 115,000 when I had to change out a coil pack. Thats been my only problem to date and now I have 121,000. Good thing too, cause I'd never park a Honda in my driveway.

I've never liked Fords. I had a Ranger once that was a total death trap.
BUT
My Ex has 155,000 miles and the only trouble I've had is that the power steering pump leaks. This after my ex-wife drove it 26,000 miles without changing the oil. When I got it back, the oil came out like cold honey. And yet, I've been wheelin' in it for over a year, and driving it all across the country and it just won't quit.
I DO think that Fords are inconsistant. They'll make 10000 Explorers and 1 will be a total POC. Then they'll make 10000 Escorts and 99995 of them will be crap.
All I can say for certain is the there are more Explorers on the road (here in Colorado Springs) than anything else and if they're on the road, they're not in the shop.
