OK Ive changed all the fluids, belt, and had the recalls done since I've owned my X since 6/6/01-

I still have a slightly off idle. I was told by one Ford Tech that the SOHC isnt the smoothest idling motor in Fords lineup. but he didn't have any suggestions..

I've cleaned the IAC, changed out the PCV valve, it has a new Thorttle Body on it from the recall.

Im wondering what else could make my idle run a bit smoother?

I still Have not changed plugs or wires but in my experience, those do not make that much a difference in the way a vehicle idles especially on a car with this low of miles48K
I have searched for intake leaks and cant find any.

What else can I do? I hate sitting at a stop light and feeling the idle burble on and off( even if ever so slightly) I can barely see it on the tach , but it does move. Just seems to be off, or a miss or something. No MILs have appeared??

EDIT Ford seems to be backordered on IACs
and Im wondering if thats what it is? I cleaned it and its spotless, but I guess it could fail? I cant find the part at any stores, it appears to be a Ford only item?

I personally think it the gas that is causing the ever so slight rough idle. All three of my cars seem to have the problem you are describing. I wonder since they have phased out the MTBE's from the gas, maybe the formulation of the gas is different and is causing this idle problem?

Could be since we live in CA they are always trying to get low emission gas out there and it may cause issues in the long run.
I have treid Shell, Arco, etc and they all seem to do it.

Ive even tried fuel injector cleaner, etc and no luck.

Im not goingto change the plugs before I leave (to much to do)

I do have my Poly bushings to install on both end swaybars.
should be an adventure considering everything else..
