I'm curious to know if it is bad for the trans to be shifted in the different gears while driving.

I pulled up to a light and dropped it in first and floored it then popped it up to second until it ran high then clicked it into overdrive (D).

Is this not recommend? It didn't cause any problems, I'm just curious. Also, what about down shifting? It that ok as well? Let me know.. thanks.

Other than beating up and possibly prematurely wearing out your transmission, it won't hurt it too much. Get the transmission flushed and install Mobil 1 synthetic automatic transmission fluid. Also install a Magnefine inline transmission filter. They were recently tested and approved by Ford as a replacement/additional filter. See www.emeringent.com then click on the Magnefine sub page. These two improvements will go a long way to preventing the already weak Explorer transmission from dying on you. They are famous for self destructing at 70,000 miles. An additional aftermarket cooler such as used for towing will also help lengthen transmission life adn does not cost much.

You happen to know the title of the thread, I'd like to read it. :)

Well I bought my car with 135k miles so I don't know if the trans is rebuilt or not. I know how 152k miles.
