Hey everyone! Well, I'll be moving to a dorm at NC State Saturday. Got any tips for me or other first year college students??

oh boy! first of all, take nothing for granted - college flies by way too fast, i cant believe im already starting my 5th year (yup...good luck if you try to do it in 4 years - only 30% of college students in the US do it in the time theyre supossed to.)

go to ALL of your classes. attendance is a big thing.

if you dont understand stuff, go to the profs office hours. if you end up doing sh*tty in a class and you dont know anything going on and youre failing stuff, go to office hours. the fact that you show extra effort goes a long way - trust me :)

um...youll become a huge football fan whether you like football or not (assuming you arent a huge fan already.)

always buy used books, heh.

um...theres so much, i cant think of nearly all of it. youll learn it as you go. just always ask questions - colleges dont tell you ANYTHING! i.e.: what classes to take and when; what grades you need in what classes, etc.

and, oh yeah, dont join a frat.

good luck!

Oh man are you in for an experience. I am going into my last year at the University of Michigan in the fall. I managed to do it in four years. It's not all that hard, just take a full load every semester and you'll be fine, unless you switch majors. Which many people do, multiple times.

Let's see here, what tips can I give you...

1) You will find that you can go into a test knowing everything and fail it, or go into it knowing nothing and ace it.

2) Curves are your friend. Almost every class has them.

3) Please do not be like a lot of students and major in underwater basket weaving, never go to class and then brag about how you have a 3.7 GPA. There are so many of these people at U of M. They will be the ones moving back in with their parents after they graduate. Major in what you like, but at least minor in something that will help you get a job.

4) Leenjen is actually only half-kidding. You will meet so many girls in college. Please be safe about it. But have fun too :D

5) As for joining a frat, that's up to you. I am in a fraternity at U of M, but it is not what I would call a typical fraternity. I picked it based on the quality of the guys that are in it and most importantly, the fact that they don't haze. I'm sorry, but anyone that goes through what most of these frats put you through in order to "strengthen the bond of the brotherhood" is a moron. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made in college.

6) This is probably the most important one about college: I cannot tell you what I learned in most of my classes I have taken, but what I have learned and experienced in college outside of class I will remember and use for the rest of my life.

I'm sure I'll think of some more later. Oh dude, listen to tbomb: buy used books. Then be prepared to sell them back and receive about 10% of what you bought them for. That is, if they haven't come out with a new edition for the next semester

peace

Mike

Party hard dude!
The fun stops when you graduate and have to get a job.
Then its continues to be downhill from there.
