OK, just outa curiosity, how many people would be interested in a production model of a cold air intake for the explorers?

well i made my own, so i wouldnt be interested, but maybe some other people would if it wasnt too expensive and you proved that it did yield results

www.volant.com has one for some explorer... not sure..... the only problem with having one custom made is that the different engines would limit the amount made and thus may not be cost effective.....

id be interested if it replaced the entire intake tube and was a true cold air intake, unlike the kkm where it draws hot air in form the enigine

i would. as long as it was like the cold air intakes for the civics, neons, eclipses, etc... where it includes the entire intake tube and the filter. i hate the restrictive black plastic piece on the explorers.

I wanna get some plastic duckting custom molded to allow as much air as possible to get to the intake, also have to keep the heat away from the filter and duct. the filter has to stay high up so if ya go through water it wont get wet. I found a way to keep the heat away from the filter up top , its not 100% but I notice a very big difference, when the hot air is totally sealed out it should be awsome.... also wanna make some type of universal duct for other models.... ive been beatin the hell outa this one i made and its still perfectly intact. lets see where it goes from here.....

Hey Lizardtrac:
If I drive to Jersey and buy an alarm from ya, would you help me put on my lift kit, seeing as how we've got the same X and same grill?!?!

What's up with that link? It take you to some type of sales site but couldn't find anything about Air induction.

id buy one. i already have a a home made one but it looks ghetto as hell.what i would want would be say a chrome intake tube and either the filter relocated so its not sucking the engine air or have a cold air bax with a large hose that sucks up cold air

The only difference with cold air over regualr is the sound. I get great sound already with my ST, and i don't think i would need a cold air to get the growl like a honda rice eater would.

the cold air makes it run cooler. cras run better when they run cooler. its not for the sound

I would if it positioned the air filter away from engine heat. It would have to have some sort of enclosure. For now, I cut a big section out of the front of my airbox.

Hook us up with some pics. I have a V8 so it might or might not work on mine.

the colder air is also denser(sp?) , denser air will give the engine slightly more horse as well, I also made my own intake after i saw prices for ones that were available and it does the same as the ones available, having a true cold air intake that tubes down with a filter down near the ground on a truck most people put through all kinds of water and snow just isn't practicle, on my camaro it was but not on this, I'll try to get some pics up of my intake I made :redexp:

I got my induction from Mac for my 5.0 It sounds a lot cooler but my gas mileage has dropped if anything.

I put a 12 Volt DC, 3300 rpm motor. and took an inducer motor and housing off of a 90% furnace. I replaced the 115 volt ac motor with the dc motor. Then I took 2 Peices of drier hose i ran 1 from out side to the fog light area to the intake side and 1 from the ehaust side and riveted it to the hosing of my K&N FIPK Gen 2 intake system. I wired it to a fuse for optional equipment that is powered with the ignition. I mounted the motor just below the intake on the fender well.:hammer:

Have any of you guys with cold air intakes measured the intake temperature with a code scannwe while driving?

How did it compare with the outside temperature?

Thanks.....
