What exactly are you trying to change--the bulb or the entire headlight assembly?? I've done both on my 95 XLT so I think I can help you.

Just changing the bulbs is easy. Just reach behind the headlight assemblies and Unplug the wire harness and turn the black plastic locking ring till you can remove it from the headlight shell. They will be tough to turn. I needed a channel-lock pliers to get mine off before. Just be careful not to break them. The bulb just pops out from the back with the ring removed. Push in the new bulb being very careful not to touch the glass bulb itself. Put the black ring back on and turn it into place and plug the wire harness back in.

If you are changing the entire assemblies, it requires removing the grill. So remove the grill. With the grill removed, you will see how the plastic headlight shells are attached. It's been a little while since I did mine, but I remember having to remove the corner lenses as well. The headlights are held in with little ball and socket type joints to allow for movement when aiming the lights. Pull gently on the alignment part and they will pop out. I know this is probably a little vauge, but it was a while back when I did this.

I hope this helps, but if you have anymore questions, just ask!
