After picking my explorer up from the shop a few days ago I noticed that the steering wheel creaks while turning past certain spots. Has this happened to anyone before? Is there some way to lubricate it?

I noticed a noise when i turn the wheel alot lately. I was pulling into a spot tonight and i heard a noise..not sure how to describe it...didn't sound like it was coming from the wheel...any ideas?

Actually I can't tell whether it's coming from the wheel itself or the steering mechanism located near the firewall. But i know it's definitely coming from inside the passenger compartment.

I have the same problem. Have had the prob for about 10,000 miles now.

Man that's interesting. Mine just started and it has 86,000 miles on it.

Does it sound kind of like a cat whining? My mother's car did this and also my brother's. Both were problems with the power steering pump I think.
