ya well sucks for me because school is kicking my butt but oh well hey jeff the truck haven run is the weekend of my b-day so i dont know what i will be doing but i do want to go to that and some other runs around. I might be acctuly taking a run up the back side of Mt High to the top of the chair lifts. There is supposed to be a trail up there. That will maybe go down Sun so let me know if ytou are interested.

I was actually thinking about going to San Gabriel OHV (http://www.r5.fs.fed.us/angeles/recreation/sangabrielohv.html) on Saturday with a couple of friends. If any of you want to join, just let me know.

It looks like its mostly just a big open area, with dirt, water, and MUD. I went to check it out yesterday, but got there too late to get in. there were a couple of truck stuck in the mud bogs and it was fun to see them trying to tow them out. :)

hey jeff where is that is that the one up Azusa Ave in the canyon. if it is i might be down. my second cousin and i went to the street leagle drags today and i was thinking if a couple of us wanted some fri night to head out to LA County race way and have some slow 4x4 races some time that might be cool. let me know what you think.

yes, I had the same idea a while ago. We have to do it before I get rid of my firestones. ;)

well most likely there are 3-4 of us going out there this fri. Eric will be running his stealth for the first time. It would be of great fun to go out there in an explorer and have some fun. Let me know if ya wanna go. i prob will not be able to go on sat but i will deffinately go some time with ya it is right over near me. What a blast. Dave (Offroadin44) and I and a few of dave's friends went out to LACR.

And now I know exactly how fast my Ex isn't. :o

For all of you that missed it, you missed a wonderful sight of my truck on my stock Firestones. :D (pictures pending) And me spinning them on the way to the line. (I know, I'm cool :cool: )

So what's next?

Well yes it was a blst and those of you that didnt come maybe we will do it again. Ya jeff and I out there in out explorers along side cars that were full blown dragsters was quite the site. I felt kinda bad for jeff on his last runn when i saw what he was up against. About a 65' mustang that was in no way shape or form stock. Lets just say it was fast. But he does deserve props on hes reaction times and for pulling and staying in front of for a few yards off the line on a modified chevelle. All in All it was fun. Jeff and i were discussing that we should doo something that would get the Orange County people involved. If one of you happen to read this give us some feed back and we will try to get something together.

Hey Jefe, that looks sweet. I actually went off-roading for the first time yesterday with some of the guys out here in Michigan. We went to a huge ORV park near Lake Michigan. One of the guys brought his digital camera, so hopefully we'll have some pics up soon. You guys are gonna convert me yet. :D Anyway, I'll be back in So Cal for winter break, which is between the 21st of Dec and the 7th of January. Maybe we can plan something then. I'm always up for Mammoth or Big Bear, even though the last couple of times I've tried to snowboard I've almost killed myself.

Hey Jefe, that's what I thought about snowboarding: it looks fun. Be prepared to be really, really sore the next day. But it would be nice to have someone else out there falling on his ass every ten feet as well. :D

Truckhaven would be awesome, but the University of Michigan has this thing about missing too many classes, especially right at the beginning of the semester, so I'll have to put that off until next year.

And, unfortunately, the Explorer won't be back in Cali until next year either, but I would still definitely want to go on some runs over break, I'll just have to ride shotgun. Just bought myself a little more time before I screw up my paint :D, although the Michigan winter's gonna do that long before the trails will.

I lived w/my wife Suzanne in E.Lansing (MSU) for 2 years, and when we drove back to Riverside, it took us 4 1/2 days! You talk about a long drive!

Yup, it's one hell of a drive. Ventura County to Ann Arbor takes me three days total, although I spread it out over four days (two half days and two full days) due to the nature of my stops. Next time will be my last though (graduating, woo-hoo!!).

My next trip to Baja will be in 3 weeks with the Amigos De Baja group. They mostly drive Tacomas (like a Toyota cult!), but they're alright...We will visit Canyon de Guadalupe for some moderate rocks, Native American Petroglyphs, and of course, the hot springs!

My sister-in-law attends EASTERN. That's not far from U of M. I used to love it when it snowed in Michigan, because you could pound the pavement on mornings that everyone else would get stuck, and take dirt roads turned into muddy roads once the snow turned into slush...

Yeah, I'm planning on going to T-haven both Nov. 10-11th and 23-25th. I usually head out friday ~6pm, and stay till sunday afternoon. I've always got open seats if you don't want to beat up your truck.

When are we going to the track again? Now that I've got my Diablo chip we'll see who'll win. :cool:

The Diablo Chip works great. I'm still not sure if it corrected my speedo (need to borrow a GPS), but it is a very noticable difference in power.
T-haven is about 3-3 1/2 hours drive for me. And you're on the way, so take off 35-40.

Yup, Eastern is just over in Ypsilanti, about 20 minutes from U of M. The only (and I mean only) thing I like about the snow in Ann Arbor is that with a 4x4 you can park where no one else can. Other than that, I hate the winter. :D

Jefe and Dave, next year I definitely want to go to T-Haven. Maybe I'll even have a trail-worthy rig to take there...

The tenative paln is to buy a new car once I graduate (probably a Passat) and turn the Explorer into a trail rig (lift, tires, etc). This all depends on 1) Getting a job, 2) Getting a good job and 3) The X not pissing me off too much (I currently need a new power steering pump). I just can't see selling it anytime soon (unless big-ticket stuff starts to break). It's in great shape and I figure no one will ever give me what it's worth. It'll be awesome to be out on the trails with you guys!

I hear ya. I just replaces it on my rig wasnt to much i dont think. Can't remember. My parents want me to get rid of my ex but you know what i said about that. I am currently trying to sell my dad on it and have him drive it and i will get my volvo 850 turbo wagon. The problem is that he wont let me have two cars and they want me to drive something more economical. Well anyways let us know when you will be in town and we will plan a meating and activity.

Sad day for me today. My fron windshield started to leak this winter and well it i guess is going to cost an a** load to fix because i guess it started to rust and stuff so far i am up to 275 for just the windshield and not including getting the rust taken care of. so as far as going to t haven jeff i guess i will have to pass and hopefully make it to the january one. that is the week my caar is getting fixed. Well so much for mod money....

ya i would since yours is so new and is the factory window ford might even cover it. Ya it really stinks but take the bull by the hornes and deal i guess. If you dodnt take care of it it can get pretty bad so get it looked at.

Actually I tried to get ford to fix it. they said it was an aftermarket window, and therefore was not covered. So the previous owner must have installed it. I was just waiting for a rock to come bust it to give me a reason to fix it all. . .but I may fix it sooner now.

best way to do it is to call the body shop that you use and ask for thir recomendation of a glass guy adn have them work in conjunction on the project

hey guys got my car back from the whole window thing. Turns out it was rusted and needed attention but not to bad. I only had to pay for the new window and for the labor at the body shop that was only 50 bucks so i am having a good day. Jeff i sugest you have yours looked at if you already havent. Alright, me and a friend have scouted out a few trails within a few hours of us.
1) Last Chance Canyon - north of Mohave, in the Red Rock OHV area:
Great rock crawling from stock to modified
2) Lockwood Canyon/Miller Jeep Trail - north of Gorman, near Frazier Park:
An awesome trail through the forest with great views - this trail requires the weather to be warm/dry for a bit or you're going to need a locker or two. Body damage possible.

Anyone up for a run? :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: Perhaps during winter vacation?

Also, when are we all getting together to go snowboarding? :cool:

i might be up for a run when school is out. I went boarding last friday and it was pretty good. Hey mike when are you going to be in town again?

Wow is it good to be back in So Cal again! Blue sky, the sun, I haven't seen either for a couple of months.

We should all try and get together again. I'm not sure if I can swing snowboarding though. I'm going up to Monterey for a couple of days next week, and I have an interview the week after, plus it looks like I'm going up to Tahoe for New Years. So we'll have to see. But - I would like to see everyone for sure. So, what does everyone think? I would like to do a run with you guys.

Hey Jefe! How would i get to San Gabriel OHV from LA and how long would it take?

To get to San Gabriel OHV: Take 210 to Azusa, then take Hwy 39 North into the forest and to the San Gabriel OHV Area Entrance Station. As far as travel time, I wouldn't know, but I'd guess 45 mins.

You takin' your 2wd up there? You know, a few of us wouldn't mind taggin' along if you are. :bounce: :bounce:

As far as I know San Gabriel OHV is just an open area that isn't very large. There are no trails, and the only reason 4x4's go is for the mud or sand. I'm sure you could have a blast even in a 2wd, but don't be following me :nono: That is unless you want a picture like so: :redexp:---:exp: :D

hey jeff arent there any eaisier trails by you that we didnt do that he could instead of boring flat land ohv. there was that one at the start of the first trail that went the other way where we aired down wasnt there.

As far as the locker, I got mine at National Drivetrain in Vegas (well I thought it was, but they don't have anything in Vegas). Anyway, I think it was $375 + shipping.

Well i just came back from Vegas and my I say that my first wheeling experience was great. However, my inexperience cost me. I gunned it in a ditch cus I didn't want to get stuck. As a result, I hit the lip and gained air about 4ft off the ground. Man what a rush! The auburn worked great in the sand. My friend with a 4wheel drive 4-Runner was getting stuck while I was just flying through with ease. At the end, my far seems fine except that now my front wheels are toe out. I'm thinking its my blown lower ball joints. Nothing seems bent. Do any of you have an idea?

no no real idea but i could be the ball joints or you just threw the alignment off. if ya wanna meet up with us for some grub tomorrow night you can at the fudrucers in pasadena off the 210 at michalinda and foothill. Get off at michalinda and make two lefts off of the freeway and you cant miss it, it is in with sears. we are meeting there at 6 hope to see ya.

I have to go out with my girlfriend but maybe I can force her to come with me. From LA couldn't i just take the 110N to pasadena. Do I hit 210 from the 110N?

you can take the 110 but it ends at the beginning of pasadena so get off the 110 at orange grove and take a left onto orange grove and follow that untill you hit colorado (make a right) and take colorado to mitchalinda. make a left on mitchalinda under the freeway and make another left on foothill then you should have seen fudruckers from the stop light at mitchalinda and foothill and make a right into the parking lot. hope to see ya there.
