Anyone ever take the door moldings off of the early models? Are there any holes under it or is it just glued on? Thanks in advance.

The moldings between the wheelwells are double side taped on and a bitch to get off yourself without ruining them. They have a metal strip in them and if you try to pull them off you bend the strip and they stay like that forever. They make a special tool to take them off. Any competent body shop should have it. Its just a pnematic knife that will cut the tape, then you take the remaining tape off the vehicle and the molding with adhesive remover. I would go to a body shop and ask them to take them off for you, they shouldn't charge that much. If you are planning on reusing them this is the way to go cause you DON'T want to ruin them, they are EXPENSIVE! I'm pretty sure the one behind the rear wheel is bolted on. Hope this helps.

If you want to take them off, make sure you soak the nuts in penetrant first, so they don't rip the bolts free from the plastic when you take them out.

Which molding behind the wheel are you talking about? and I can just goto the body shop and ask them to remove the side stripe and then when they take it off then there will be nothing there, just paint?

Hi,
Which moldings are you guys talking about.
I think 'you' mean the plastic molding that go across the 'middle' of the doors, right?, not in the wheel wells?...

If so & you got them off - were there any holes & how did you get them off?

Thanks,
PJ
