Welp Lets see.... how do i start this one..... It was a Nice night on LongIsland.... So me and my friend decide totake a little trip to the beach to test out my new Goodyear A/Ts. The night was going great.... Full moon... high tide... the air was warm and there was a southern wind...... we drive about 2-3 miles onto the beach and decide we should go check out the other side.. (bad idea) I'm driving and the next thing i know im driving and the waves are breaking 2 feet from my truck and swelling up under it... so i say ###### this and decide to hang a U turn..... (Another bad idea) Welp what i didnt see what a small lake that was forming on the beach... 20 feet from the sea... and I hit the breaks... to late... my front end skids into the big hole (mini lake) thank god i stoped when i did... i saved the whole front end from taking a swim... The water was upto the fog's at that point.. so im freaking out... my truck my truck.... my new 2001 truck.... 2 feet from falling into a 6 foot deep whole filled with salt water.. anyway.... I get in the back seat and get out the back door cause the front was allmost under water so i was not gona take the chance of filling my truck with water.... so i get out and my friend stays in the truck... I decide to go down the beach to look for help..... now the full moon... so i take a flare out of my truck and light mind you its night time at the beach... the only light was it for some light... and i start walking... in water a foot deep (bad idea #3)... i dont care at this point... all im thinking is if i dont get help im gona loose my truck.... so im walking and the next thing i know im under water.... yes underwater... i fell into another mini lake and now was in water over my head.... Now im 6' so there had to be at least 10' of water... now i try to stand up and its like quick sand.... due to the riptide... now i think i gona die... so i swim to the shore and get out... now im soaked... from head to toe... now im even more pissed off...my truck is ****ed... im soaked... what else could go wrong i ask... hah (bad idea #4 for the night) i walk back to my truck and find my friend had waived down a passing truck... and the gut was calling the state police.. so we sit and wait... an hour goes by and the water is now up and over mt bumper.... (thank god for the skid plates) its now about 9:45 and high tide is at its peak... and the state police pull up... and what does he say to me? " How are you doing this evening.." HAH how am i doing? My truck is about to go into the sea... i allmost died... and im soaked... how do you think im doing... (no i didnt say that... i was just thinking it) so the cop tells me i have to wait for a tow truck to come and pull my truck out... that he was not gona help me.. so i sit there for another hour and the tow truck finaly comes... yey! so now to make a long long story end faster.... he pulls me out... and hands me a bill for $276 yes $276 for 20 min of work... i check my oil and shit... and my truck starts fine... i drive off the beach... the end...

Now what have i learned from this?

#1 Going on the beach during hightide and a full moon = a no no

#2 look where your walking.. you might fall into a big hole

#3 ford trucks are really biult ford tough!

#4 tow truck men make a lot of $$

Now a question for all you people out there that know about trucks... now i know about trucks but i dont know everything... what needs to be flushed out/changed/washed after the front end sitting in salt water for 3 hours? i allready washed the whole underside of the truck with the hose... and my truck is getting a nice bath today after work... everything is fine other then the belts making some odd noises... and no im sorry guys... i dont have any pics... i said to my friend as this was going on.. i wish i had my digital cam... i know the guys from this website would get a kick out of this..

and thats my story... im shure i will rember more and post more soon.

HEE HEE i am not going to go into details, but let me just say i got stuck in Lake Michigan when it was -11 outside. I was knee deep in water. Had to also get towed out THANK GOT FOR AAA the bill was about 300, and the tow truck drive made me hook up the hook cause he didnt want to get wet.

I would HIGHLY recommend that you check the fluid in the differentials, the tranny, and the xfer case. I was out mudding at Paragon, and ended up with water in both my diffys. The vent hose on the rear differential only runs up to the bottom of the body, and if you were sitting in water, you likely have it in there. The transfer case and tranny are less likely to have water in them, but better safe than sorry.

that really sucks.
i just said to my wife last week, we should go to the beach and drive over the dunes. now i dont think i want to risk it. it sucks because i cant go offroading with my explorer, so i wanted to drive on the beaches.

Or, even better, let some air out of the tires (down to about 5-10psi), and then back out.

i did very similar thing at the beach in nags head NC about 3 years ago. i ended up in on eof the puddles that go from 6inches to 6 feet with no warning. i had to change out all of the fluid in the the diffs, the tcase, the tranny, the crankcase and change the spark plugs because they got water on them and they corroded. i was lucky to be surrounded by monster trucks and got pulled out. it took my friend 6 hours to find us as we were 3 hours from home and he got lost. my cell ohine wasnt charged but that was a good thing because if i called my wife she would have killed me. after i got home she just joked me some kind of hard. 2 days later when i went and picked up my truck from the mechanic i got a ticket on teh way home.

driving on the beach is extremely fun to me. but it can be dangerous.

there was a guy who got rolled in ex a year or 2 ago in NC on teh beach. it was a sad day to see the news with a new ex broken and bruised.

Gabe,
yeah - I know...

There are a few I'm waiting on (my own laziness) before I put the new pic up here. I'm looking for a cool action shot :D

Most of the cool ones are of Rocky - he always gets all the attention. But - view the recent Whoops (I did it again...) to see me really stuck...

i believe i can relate. guys like you and me always hit it hard and always get stuck because we are pushing the limit. thats okay. i guess rocky gets the attention due to his 37' boggers, you definitely dont see too many of them.

BTW my boss saw you picks and is getting the procomps for his f-150. he wants to go on the next run with us.
