Well, last night we were doing some real light off-roading and managed to roll the Sport Trac 3 times! Pictures to come! I am not in very good mood at this time so I am signing off.

Hey, that definately sucks! Hopefully insurance will cover it. I had a minor fender bender while wheelin, and State farm paid for the repairs... so that was nice... keep the hopes up...

I dont know! It is pretty much toast at this point! windshield is gone, Roof is smashed in! Windows are gone, front fenders bend in to inner fender, hood gone, bed gone, and the cab is smashed, This is junk yard bound! I will take some digital pictures tonight! Hopefully someone can post them for me tomorrow.

Well guys! I am not feeling to well! Ive had a minor surgery on my lower back in the past and it is acting up again! It hurts pretty bad when I walk. It looks like it is going to be a total. The cab is way to tweaked and bend to even try to fix! Just so you know, the cab of the ST held up remarkable well for the amount of rolls we did. I am pretty much screwed as now my already high risk insurance is going to drop me. Why me? Like I said I will get some pictures tonight and have Kris post them tomorrow. Be careful on the trail.

that was a nice looking truck. that really sucks. the important thing is that there were no serious injuries.

I am sorry. Hopefully you will be able to get your old Explorer working good again. Maybe even part out the ST. I'm sure everything will work out alright in the end. Good Luck with the insurance company and your back.

As for the back, give it some time. I have had two back surgeries and I've done some things since that makes it hurt, but so far it goes away.
Can't say that will happen to you since I'm not a doctor, but it might just be sore from the roll over.

If you have insurance they hopefully will pay you then they can cancel you. If not jack out the posts so you can get a windshield in that thing and start wheeling. The next time you roll it won't feel so bad.

Put a roll cage in it and make it the first soft top ST. And herculine the entire body

As someone with experience in this dept., :rolleyes: consider buying it back from the ins. co. after they pay you off for it. You should be able to match the offer they get from a junkyard, assuming it is totalled. Then swap everything out into an older cheaper Ex.

Yeah we have been looking at all the options! I finally put a cover over it last night so I wouldnt have to look at it! And to keep the weather out! :( I was to sore to take pictures yesterday so I will try it again today! We will see..........

Damn dude... that does F*in blow.... My quesiton is... Is it running? Cause to me, I think in some way, it looks salvagable... A cage, soft top, I don't know that it's necessary to get all the body immediately fixed... Just the necessary stuff... Hell, I think I've seen Perry fix more damaged roll over vehicles.... My guess, is it looks salvagable to me... But all in all, that whole chain of events does suck, hopefully yer gettin better now...

i agree with pete. but then again, maybe it looks worse in person than in the pictures.

Man, that's depressing to look at. Brings back memories :( . Although, if the frame is still straight, I'll bet the insurance company will fix it instead of totalling it. If I remember correctly, it won't get totalled unless the repair value exceeds approximately 80% of the book value.

Just a thought, if they do total it out and you buy it back, go find a ST that had the front clip wiped off in an accident, buy it cheap and swap out the cab. That's the hardest part to fix.

Thats a shame cause that truck is sweet. I also think it looks kind of salvageable. A soft would look really sweet. And the front end dont look all that bad as long as it runs.

Yes the truck still runs great! It didnt even knock the alignment out of whack! I should find out today if they are going to total it or fix it! I am feeling better now! I am 23 but feel like Im 43 :) I will let you guys know as soon as I do......

Well, I just got of the phone w/ the appraiser! He is going to need until tomorrow 11-7-01 to get me the final verdict! As of right now he said it is looking like a total loss. Every panel would need to be replaced along w/ the damage to the bed and the roof! Ill keep you posted!

You can appeal if they call it a total loss and see if they'll reconsider. This is especially true if the numbers are somewhat close, i.e. 80% of the value and the repair estimate.

If everything's still straight, you should think seriously about trying to keep it and fix it yourself.

BTW, you never said (that I saw) how you did it!

Brian, what you oughtta try and do is see about getting it totalled out and then buying it back from the insurance company. Heck I'd buy it off ya if the price was right! Assuming frame is still straight and all, just fix enough of the body so that you can shut the doors and roll up windows (and windows are optional) and use it as your hard-core off-roading machine! :)

Buy it back and now you can wheel it like all hell cause you won't have to worry about damaging it. I would seriously look into a frame mounted roll cage and soft top though. Looks like you only need a new windshield to make it street legal again.

FIX IT! FIX IT! Hell, chuck in a straight axle, roll cage... hammer out that hood, make low cut doors, and yer set! :eek:

My thoughts exactly! Looks fine to me! :D

I am still looking into my options! If they total it I may get a 94 as a daily driver then take the rest of the money and built my 92 back up! i.e solid axle, 4wd conversion, engine rebuild. Thats my first plan, if that doesnt seem reasonable I may be looking at something besides FORD for a off-road vehicle that comes stock w/ a roll cage shhhhhhhhh. I dont know!

Wheeling the Explorer was fun but once you get a vechicle you can tear up wheeling becomes 10x more fun.

All I can say Bro is WOW!!! That's a bummer, I'd definately have a really wierd feeling down in my gut and stuff if I was in your shoes. That was definately the sweetest ST I'd seen other then the one at SEMA that Baja Shop built. I'm agreeing with the majority here and saying to let them total it and buy it back. Find out who Baja Shop had make all their Glass fenders since the molds are already done you may be able to pick up the fiberglass fenders and stuff cheap. Get the cab pounded out and cage teh inside, leave the inards gutted, rhino line the interior and build a simple custom aluminum dash with only the necesities (sp?). Keep the interior clean and simple. Swap out for the solid front end and you'd be up there with Rick's Explorer!!!!

See if you can buy it back then straighten out the roof a bit, slap a D44 under the front and go wheelin'.

Still not sure what I am going to do! Its gone! I will get a new 94 Explorer and get the solid axle put under my 92 Explorer! Thats kinda what I have decided to do! So there is alot in store for the 92.

Wow that sucks. If it makes you feel any better you're not the only one. a friend of mine dumped over his step brother's 94 mazda B2300 when he fishtailed and hit an embankment. You can read the blow by blow action here.

Yea, I hear ya. I am just glad both my friend and I were buckled up. The sunroof was open and someone would have been thrown out of the vehicle. I will be starting on my 1992 4wd here in the next couple months, then ,making some mods to my 1994 to use as my tow vehicle. R.I.P Sport Trac.......................................

I'm with all the people here that say fix it. My mom's '94 was quite a bit worse than that when we bought it to rebuild. My new '97 was close to that...though no roof damage, but major damage to the drivers side front.

I'm sure it looks worse in person, but I'd rather rebuild the newer sport-trac than drive around in a '94.

Glad you're not too injured though!

It's been a long time since my last flip & roll, but it's something to be remembered forever.

Actually, I like driving around in the 1994 better than the ST. I have always been a bigger fan of the 91-94 which is why I have owned:

I like all the metal on them as opposed to the plastic that they put on the newset explorers. Just my opinion.

Totally understandable!

I sure hope that I like my new '97 more than I liked my '92 though. With all the goodies it should be quite a bit better, but overall I can see your point about the toughness of the steel vs. plastic.
