yeah, but anything would brake when you take your truck off-road and start hitting shit.........
If you get these and ever need a replacement...... I've got one Hella series 500 driving light left from my set I broke the other one when I took some really small trees under my truck in Attica....

plastic and very fragile....... but what's better?
I have bought some metal ones -cheap - at Wallmart - strong looking but had to get rid of them after half a year.......

remember - you get what you pay for.

so if you don't wheel..... Hella is good.

well your alot of help :) where the 500s any good? where they bright? I'm thinking i might get these; http://www.jcwhitney.com/product.jhtml?CATID=4982&BQ=jcw2 theyre 36 bucks each and theyre stainless steel and have 150w bulbs

go to any Wallmart and you'll save yourself twenty bucks each light....... they're $16.00 each there......
I had a problem with these cause they were taking water in real easy, even from just rain and then later that water would stay in and ruin the inside....
just my thought.
My Hellas were and still are pretty good. I did put 100W bulbs in them though. I still have two up front. As far as braking? anything can happen on the trail, you'll just have to watch out. Regular use? Hellas would be best......or better yet, PIAAs but then you're talking about at least $300.00 a set.
JC Whitney has a lot of "garbage" but to be honest?? I never bought anything from them. Better try here:

in my book - the best place for any accesories for your truck.
Good luck!

I just checked with 4wheelparts.com and their prices are pretty nice. I mean if you still want something like those from JC Whitney go for Explorer Pro Comp lights 6" round and you'll pay around $60.00 a set or choose Hellas and pay around $70.00 a set.

Check them out. Also, sign-up for their free magazine, pretty cool.

i was looking @ the 6" round they look pretty decent but are the chromed ones just chromed plastic? and if they are is there much of a difference between metal and plastic lights as far as quality/durability goes? (I'm gonna mount these lights on my pushbar so they should be somewhat protected.

I have some Hella 500s mounted on my bumper and they stand up pretty well, especially with the covers on. As Dre pointed out, the major flaw with cheapo lights is the seal, water and dust can get in there and ruin the lights. As for the plastic housing of the Hellas, it's strong stuff. I went offroading just last week with the Hellas in some nasty stuff, including lots of sand and water, and they held up perfectly.

If you want big decent lights to stand up to the rough stuff, go with Hellas, PIAAs, or Lightforce. If you need small lamps, Pilot brand lights from Autozone are the best of the cheapos, and stand up well.

The Ex has Hella 500s on the WAAG. The Ranger has Hella 500s and Hella 450 Clear Fogs. All work extremely well once you get them lined up like you want. It takes a couple of attempts with fireman gloves (you guys know what I mean). I really like the 450 Fogs, they work extremely well.
For the price, @$70 a set from Summit Racing (I also endorse this company) you can't go wrong.

BTW: after 2 years of mostly road and some light offroad the only problem has been the little blue Hella sticker is peeling.

IMHO the Hellas are the best for the money.........I did mount mine on my tube bumper/winch and was going through the woods when I broke one by hitting a tree with it. My lamps were sticking too far forward I guess so they weren't "protected" you know. The metal ones didn't last long cause of the seals.......

man, the best lights I've own so far is the set of driving lights I brought with me from my trip to Europe....... and guess what!!!! I paid only $10.00 for the set, inlcuding wiring........... I had them up front and now have 'em up on the roof rack........ imagine the beating these lights get when you go through the woods....... I got to find a way to import these so I can make a lot of money and quit my job..... LOL :)

You might want to look at the KC Hilites model kcc-415. (that's Summit Racing's (http://www.summitracing.com) part #). They are slightly under $100 and a good quality light with a 23 year warranty on breakage and rust through. I have 2 sets of KC's on my truck, and I love 'em. I had a set on my old X, and they rusted a little after 5 years, and KC replaced them free with no question asked.

BTW, does anybody have an extra Hella 500 series driving light laying around? I need only one and as you know you can't buy one;
