Here are a few photos from SEMA 2001. Lots of Explorers all right, but unfortunately they were all street trucks, either lowered or just given fancy paint jobs. NOTHING setup for offroad. except the Off-Road Magazine Sport Trac which was a 4x4,but they converted it to a 4x2!

I will have a report to make regarding new product availability which will be posted shortly.

For now check out some photos...

Looks good Rick,
I know Leebo had some good pics also of SEMA. Sure wished I could have gone.

By the way did you talk to the OX-lock people much? I would like to know more about it for the front locker.

Q:> How can you make any vehicle hideous and ugly?

That black Sport Trac with the flared fenders and stuff looked awesome! Wow, the prerunner fenders make a huge difference in the looks. I see that there were a few '02's trying to look tough...

The Off-Road Sport Trac does look great. I saw the lengthened control arms right away and was hoping they were working on a long travel 4x4 setup. What they did was eliminate the front drive axles and turn it into a 4x2 though. Bummer!

The Ox Locker isn't going to be released for the Dana 35 TTB. The design relies on a new cover that has the shift fork integrated into it.

I photographed the Woody and the purple Low Rider to show what Ford had on display at their booth.

Looking at this picture it makes me think that some people just can't read.

LOL... Good call, but actually there was plenty of room between the truck and the door. The perspective of the lens makes the truck look likes it's right up to the wall.

ahh ok my bad... ill hush.. ok so were the PIAA wiper blades anygood? :)

Rick

Yeah the PIAA blades look great. They lay down a film which acts like Rain-X. It causes the water to clear from the windshield much more quickly. No streaks at all.

They are supposed to hold up well in extreme temps also.

I'll be putting together tonight. My friend from Chicago just left and I finally have some time again.

I had a great time as well! It was definately worth the drive (especially if a few of my conversations with various companies presidents and vice presidents work out like they hinted they would...
Anyways, I should have pictures up tomorrow. I'll also be installing my PIAA wiper blades tomorrow, I'll let you know how those turned out.
Leebo, I'll be sending you some email regarding lightforce, heh heh heh.

I'm guessing somebody deleted the other Sema thread, but here's another link to my pics. Just getting back from Moab so I haven't checked if there's any word for any new products.

I think that's the Sport Trak that I saw "The Baja Shop" finishing up a couple weeks ago. It's got hand made widened A-Arms right? When I saw it they were jacking up the front end from the frame and those front tires seemed to drop out for ever!!!

I'll quickly write some of the addresses of the companies that caught my eye. Most of them don't have new product for the Explorer, but some are either working on them, or I've talked to them about some new products.

Warrior Products (www.warriorproducts.com)
Talked to them about their new line of products for the Explorer. He said that once they put out the info in their catlog the product sales went through the room. Suggested to them they may wana look into Half door, Skid Plates, and a rear tire carrior.

Bonarue (www.sparetirecarrier.com)
This was a smaller company that is selling a carrior that slides into a receiver hitch. This one though looks alot tuffer than the others that are out there.

Air Lift Company (www.airliftcompany.com)
These guys offered a line of air compressors and air bags that were mostly for lowriders. They did have a compressor that works for some Chevy's, but I looked in the book and it listed at about $1000. This was much like the York Compressor but allows you to continue to use the AC compressor. Nice display they had though.

Advance Adapters (www.advanceadapters.com)
They had an amazing handout. Almost gave you details on how to swap Tcases or whatever info you may need on the swaps. They had about 4 books full of info. Can't wait to read up on this one. They did say they were doing some tests with a Ranger for some new products. All the tests were with a 302. :D

B.I.T. Snorkels (www.all-american.nl)
Not sure on this product. They had a few snorkels there, but nothing for the X. Sent them an email, but no responce as of yet.

Detroit Locker (http://www.tractech.com/)
The Detroit Locker isn't coming out till the first part of next year sometime. Don't count on it being offered for the Dana 35 anytime soon. The 8.8 though may come down the line. It will be a full time posi when you have it turned off, but once you flip the switch it's a full hard locker. Really impressed me!

LightForce (www.lightforce.com)
They had their new H.I.D's on display. Will be the same bulb and ballest as the Hella's, but almost 2" larger. It will turn out to be about 9.5" with the same housing as the other LightForce products. Starts at about $1200 for a set. Too rich for my blood.

The Bonarue thing is a good idea but i think it sticks out too far. Id scrape the hell out of it.

By the way was the company named Fabritech there at the show? I emailed them and they said they were working on a solid axle swap kit for 95+ explorer/ 98+ ranger. Just wondering..

ok here's my pictures. I haven't had much time to scratch my a$$ much less organize my SEMA pictures, so be happy with three different subdirectories "explorers" "f150s" and "misc" LOl. The f150's also includes and super dutys and excursions.

What was up with the Mickey Thompson '02 Ex? It looks great. Any other info on that? also, the Yellow Ranger Blast had one of the best looking pre runner bars on it. Anyone know who made this for Ford? Or have any mor epics of it?

In one of the pictures there is a '02 X with a borla exhaust on it. I checked the borla website but it didn't say anything about the '02 X. Anyone know anything about it?
