I bought my truck used and the owner's manual was missing. Have you guys any ideas on how to snag one? Anyone out there got a spare? <grin> Just curious...

I will be going backpacking later in the month in the mountains. Not *positive* on the best way to use the low gear for those hills and thought the manual would be a handy place to start...thanks!!

Check e-bay for a replacement manual. Go into
e-bay motors, parts & accessories, and do a search under "ford explorer."

Found one for you on Ebay, link below for starting bid of 9.75, saw another on there also who wanted 19.95,
guy must be smoking camel dung. Good luck but make sure you check out the persons feedback, if it's shady don't buy from them. Any questions don't hesitate to email the seller, most of the time they are extremely helpful.

Here Is One On Ebay For 9.75 For A 96X (4.00 S&H)

Not sure if yours is like my 94, but in order to get it into four low you have to have it in park with your foot on the brake before you can get into low.

Hope this helps you out. I personally haven't found a lot in a owners manual to help.

Good luck back packing. Hope you don't plan on four wheeling until you can't go anymore and then backpack from there. With the Explorer you might just four wheel right to your destination. :-)

Have fun with the "X"

You can use 4WD low on any loose ground under 35MPH. To engauge it, stop the truck and put it in neutral with your foot on the brake. Good luck!

You can download the manual and all of the supplements for free by going to www.ownerconnection.com and registering your Explorer with Ford. Once registered, go to the "glovebox" area.

Way to go, Robert! It was exactly what I needed - thanks a lot! Worth the surrender of some info to get the files. I appreciate the link. Another thing to check off my list...
