View Full Version : Use Nero to burn MP3 CDs.

After many weeks of wasting time with Adaptec/Roxio's EZ CD Creator, I can say that it is NOT the solution for burning MP3 CDs for use with my JVC SH-99 MP3 player. The JVC requires an ISO (not Joliet) CD format, and I bet this applies to other MP3 head units as well.

Simply put, EZ CD Creator's ISO support sucks. They have options for long filenames within the ISO format, but it doesn't work - you still get 8.3 format when naming files, and you can't use spaces. Spaces are important when naming folders so they look nice. (It's not so important for MP3 files - you should be using the ID3 tag anyway).

Nero allows ISO format with long filenames with ASCII character sets - meaning you can use spaces in folder names, and they are correctly understood by the JVC unit.

If none of this makes sense - just use Nero to burn MP3 CDs. I think it's a better CD burner utility anyway.

Hope this can help someone.

should've asked me that! :) We stopped using that crappy Easy CD Creator for our customers a year ago when we started using Nero. Any customers that we find out are still on easy cd creator we tell them to upgrade immediately, thats how much a pos easy cd creator is compared to nero :). By the way, for those that want free trials of stuff, you can download a copy at www.nero.com

You know, I had the general impression from the 'net that Nero was better, but EZ always worked for me when burning/copying data CDs. So I never had the umph to switch. But now I had a reason! And I'm glad I did - I like it much better already.

I like nero better, but it doesn't seem to wanna work with my burner.... So I've just been living with my HP program, so i doubt I'm getting CD text... which will be nice when I get my CD player back...

Get a Macintosh and use iTunes, beats them all!

Kris, can you successfuly create long filenames & folders and have them display correctly on the Kenwood unit? With spaces?

Just wondering...

MusicMatch has always worked great for me.

I have a Kenwood z828 mp3/cd player and
I use Nero, I have no problem displaying long file names
but I chose not to use the ID3 feature because it takes longer for the songs to load up to play.

Update: Figured out my delay problem w/ Id3 tags.
I tried burning a multi session disk and this caused the delay. I burned and finalized a disk and there is no delay. I was beginning to get pissed too :)
