I usually use about $4 at a self car wash place or spend $10 and have it washed :exp: :) :p

Depending on how dirty the Explorer is and how I'm feeling, I'll either wash it myself, or take it to get washed for ~$10.

About every 6-8 weeks I get it hand washed and pampered for about $12.

I do is in the driveway. If it gets really grungy I use the pressure washer first to knock off the mud. When we went to Paragon a couple of months ago, it took me 8 hours with a pressure washer and other assorted washing devices to get the mud off!!

Ok, for some wierd reason it won't let me vote, says I dont have permission to access that page, but it shows me as logged in...

If I go to the car wash I spend about $5 usually, but if I've been muddin it'll be over $10 if I do it there... Gotten to where I just spray off the big clumps of mud at the car wash, then I take it home and spend a couple hours spraying off the rest of the underside. Took me nearly 4 hours to wash the Ranger after my last (and first) time playing in the mud in it.

try voting now. When a poll is placed in a non-poll forum (i.e. a forum other then general topic polls or explorer related polls) only elite explorers or moderators would be able ot vote on it.

For a place to put it through their drivethru wash (very good wash too) and hand drying, vaccuum/remove trash, armorall tires & dash and clean windows.

The only drawback is on the weekends all the Prince William County Police take their cars there and they get 1st priority, so sometimes you have to wait a bit.

I usually go to the do it yourself places and spend $3-4 to get it all nice and clean then take it home and take a shop vac to the inside then do the armor all about once a month and sine the tires. I've kind of slacked off since I've been at colege though because I don't have mush of a place to clean it my self. I'll take it to the wash when it gets dirty but I only get to clean the inside bout once a month or less. Right now its filthy but I'm broke so I have to wait till I get some money.

Well, hand washing at home is free and gives me better results (body wise) than pressure washing, but I use the car wash for $1-2 when its really dirty or muddy since it does a much better job on the undercarriage and all that....and you don't have to clean your driveway afterwards!

I don't really like spending too much on a car wash..usually just a buck or two max. I think paying $5-20 for an automatic wash or something like $39.95-89.99 for detailing is for lazy rich people. :D

Now...if you're talking about paying cute girls in bikinis to wash your X...THATS different.

If I do it at the self wash it's $2.50, at home probably cost about $.10. In the winter I always wash it at the self wash.never go to those automatic washes they scratch paint and can't do it at home in the winter, it would make my driveway nothing but ice and my driveway has somewhat of a slope to it.

Around here there are usually fundraisers put on by a baseball team or a swim team and a bunch of high schoolers wash your car for free, but take donations. I always wanted to go and get muddy and take it there.

I got booted at Ship Shape car wash the other day because my tires were wider than the track, got a free vacuum from it though.

I either do it myself at home or go to superwash and pay 1.50, but usually if i go to superwash its a crappy wash

It depends, I own a pressure washer and shopvac, so during the spring/summer/fall when I want a really nice job done, I do it myself, then polish it with that turtle wax stuff, and then wax it.... always comes out looking sweet, so I guess it costs about $4.00 for all the supplies I use.

When I just want a good job done, or its winter time, I go to hand carwashes only. Generally for an SUV, its about $12.00 for the wash, windows, and interior clean/shine... + $2.00 wax + $2.00 tiredressing and a $3.00 tip

so $19.00 about every 3-4 weeks during the winter

I always wash mine at home, except in the winter months when its too cold, I just go and spray it off with the soapy stuff at the car wash to keep salt off of it. I never take it to the automatic ones with brushes, and I never let anyone else wash, dry, wax, or do anything, because I trust myself a lot more when it comes to that then I do other people.

I work at an automatic car wash, and all day we get Bimmers, Mercedes', Porsches, etc coming through. Then at the end of the day I run my Ex through the $27 for free :D

depends on how muddy it is. I actually got asked to leave a car wash because "it wasn't worth the hassle for me to clean up your mess for $5.00" thats what the lady said anyway.

Once my manager at the car wash told me to turn away a Ranger because it was too muddy, but I did it anyway because it had been a slow day. That's my little story for the moment.

I have dilemmas with whether I should let the dirt build up or not. Because the thing is that my Ex is pretty much bone stock, so it doesn't look like a 4x4, so if I let the dirt build up, it just looks like I'm too lazy to get it washed. But if I do wash it, it shows off all the scratches and dents and it looks like I just don't know how to drive or something. So it's like a moral dilemma.

Wash it yourself, of course! Why?
How could you take anyone seriously who prominently displays responsibility for nothing with a big sign, carrying on about “any and all major or minor damage that they may cause while washing your car”…..THEN asks for $2 more to get the wheels clean because if you don’t, the wheels won’t come out clean? like the wheels have been just excluded from “car” in “car wash”. Not to mention the magic mystery button they push for the secret wax formula. (where do those button wires go? are there any wires?)

Get serious and take pride in your cruiser(s)- DIY!

I wash mine 99.9999999% of the time in my driveway. Sometimes, I just can't stand the dirtiness of my truck and doesn't have the time to wash it, that's when I take my truck to the self-wash. Put about $2 worth of coins and rinse the dirt off. Not clean, but looks better.

i most def wash my truck at home...i hate car washes cause the brushes leave swirls in ur paint...plus i like to go over my truck a couple times hand washin it to get alllll the crap off... ;)

Don't get me started on the brushes at car washes. I specifically told everyone in my family NOT to use the brushes at carwashes because they will cause severe swirls. And since I'm the detailer of the family (for free!!), they need to listen. Well, my mom didn't listen and used the brush at the car wash. She got home and asked me about the "scratches" so I went down to the garage to see the car. All I saw was scratches all over the paint. I was mad and spent another 15 hours taking them out.

So please, DON'T use those brushes at self washes.

I use $3.95 car washes the day after a snow storm each and every time. Otherwise every other week. Its just too damn cold to be washing it yourself. Summer time though is a different story. I wash it myself. It's fun to discover every little scratches that accumulated during the winter.

$4 in quarters is what I spend at the self-serve. Sometimes more if I need buy cleaning products.

I just use the Mr. Clean Autodry on my Explorer about once a month. I can only get about 3 uses on the refill filters before I have to buy a new one. Plus, I like to wax it every time and add that cool shiny stuff on my tires. It equates to about $8 per wash. I must say, if you wax your car yourself, the new Meguiars NXT Tech Wax is some really good stuff!
