Ok, you guys ought to be experienced in removing a wide variety of products from skin (Herculiner, for example), so y'all should be able to help me out. I was using clear spray varnish earlier to seal/protect a painting project I just finished, and managed to get it all over my left hand. What should I use to get the varnish stuff off with? Would nail polish remover work? Thoughts please . . .

Nail polish remover, acetone, mineral spirits, etc. will probably work but might irritate your skin. A strong soap like Go-Jo, Fast Orange, maybe a bar of Lava will get it off. I'd try the soaps first, I've had them work for me in situations like that, but if they fail after a few attempts, then move to the more aggressive solutions. Good Luck.

Acetone (Used to be used in Nail Polish Remover) works very well, but it is a carcinogen. Long term exposure can damage the liver (We used the stuff at work, but have to use all sorts of protective gear per company policy). A one time use will not give you any grief.

acetone is good. if that doesn't work, you might try some methanol if you're friendly with the chemistry dept. at your school like i am. methanol also great for getting permanent marker off of ANYTHING!
