Hey all-

Im interested in your guys' opinions on which i should install on my 97 explorer XLT 4.0L SOHC. I want to install either the K&N Air filter or the Air charger. Price doesnt matter. I just want to know what would be better and why. Thx.

I got a K&N drop-in. It works pretty well in my Ex.

I like the KN filtercharger on my "97 XLT SOHC. Seems more powerful & responsive & sounds great when you step on it. Warning: your m.p.g. may decrease as you put your pedal to metal just to experience it. ;)

Have you given thought to the KKM system? It works great and is LESS money,

Take a look at http://www.kustomz.com/

Good luck....

K&N meets California Air Resources Board (CARB) rules. Don't know about KKM. Don't want to mess with smog issues in California.

What about the K&N Fuel Injection Performance Kits (FIPK)? Has anyone installed one of these? How does it run? If price doesnt matter...which one is better and why?

I have the FIPK on my '97 SOHC. The one-time $75 extra over the KKM was worth not having to remove and replace it every year for emmissions checks. If you don't mind removing and replacing it every year then the KKM and FIPK perform about the same (probably exactly the same). It takes about 15 minutes to take it out or put it back in.
