View Full Version : Brake light fuse?

My '97 Mountaineer's left brake light won't illuminate. I tried several new bulbs, that does not seem to be the problem. The right-side light is fine, as is the high-mounted brake light.

Questions: Are the left and right brake lights on separate fuses and if so, which fuses? I see a fuse marked for the high-mounted brake light, but none for the other brake lights. If anyone has a shop manual handy, I'd sure appreciate some assistance.

Thanks!

Gary, I see your post on your brake light problem. There is a main fuse for the brake lights (all of them), then there is a secondary fuse for the 3rd brake light.

If it is fuse problem then either all the lights don't work or just the 3rd brake light doesn't.

If your left brake light does not work but your right one does then it is either a bulb or the wire is shorted or broke. Since the bulb is good and the fuse is not poping then it is broken wire.

I bet that the light green wire runs from the front to the back right brake light. Some where near the left brake light a light green wire that goes from the left brake light bulb runs down and taps into the main light green wire and that is the connection that is broken.
