I just recently got a Ford Explorer and there are a few things inside it that I cannot figure out. The manual that came with it isn't helping much either. The first thing is when you fold down the back seats there are 2 black metal bars that are secured by yellow clips. It appears that the black bars come out, but once they do I can't seem to figure out what they are used for. The second thing is on my stereo there is a button that says RDS. The manual says it is has something to do with radio tuning and if radio stations are equipped with RDS than something or other????? It doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Anyone care to shed some light on these features for me?

Much Thanks,
ShoTTa

the poles are used to lower the spare and used as the handle for the jack. RDS has to do with the radio stations broadcasting stuff other than music. For instance some broadcast traffic reports that will show up on your radio display. Others will show the name of the station or what type of music it plays. Say for instance you drove to Podunk, USA and wanted to listen to Rap music. This would allow you to find all the stations that play rap music. Its an interesting concept that I never use.
