Recently my lighter stopped working in my 97 X.
The one on the side works fine, but the dash mounted one(next to radio) isnt powering up anymore?

Ive looked at fuses and all are OK?

Anything else to look at.
Do I need to remove the housing around the radio to R&R?

Mine quit working a while back too. But mine was actually damaged. The prongs inside were grounding out against the housing. I'm sure you have a different problem, but I can answer your second question. Yes, you have to remove the radio trim to get the cig lighter out in order to replace it. I got a replacement from a local auto parts store.
