I was wondering if any of you guys saw the unveiling of the new 2003 Expedition this morning. I was watching it live on the internet and the first thing that came into my mind when I saw it was that it looked like the new Explorer. It just looks like a bigger version of the Explorer. It even has the independent rear suspension like the new Explorers. You can get it with the FX4 package, which includes skid-plates, chrome wheels, tubular step bars, a limited-slip differential, and a FX4 badge for the rear liftgate. I was wondering if it lost some off-road ability with the new IRS. I dont know if I fully like it yet, but I think I am leaning toward yes. If any of you guys have seen it tell me what you think.

The AdvanceTrac™ system uses electronic braking to transfer torque side-to-side, while the ControlTrac™ transfer case divides torque front-to-rear. Even with two wheels completely off the ground - off-roading's most extreme challenge - the new Expedition can keep moving.

I wanna see that.

Another good vehicle turned into a POS by Ford? Maybe, but I don't like the looks of it.

hehe, I got to see it a few months ago! :p

It's a nice truck, I guess. It is basically a big Explorer, we'll see how people react. I like it better than the previous model.

I think im one of the few that likes it!...lol
I guess it depends on your location too, around here noone really off roads. Something like that is all a person needs!

You've got to give Ford credit for trying. It may not be the direction that' we'd all like to see but at least it's a move forward average-Joe-consumer-wise. The IRS and all the computer enhanced 4wd drive stuff is cool. And I believe it's got full side curtain airbags and other roll-over stuff. And honestly a better ride, which is what the IRS is for, is what most people are looking for. No one wheels in those in CA anyway because is would get beat to hell on the narrow trails. Even the new EX may be too big now.
PS. I also like the air vents on the inside.

I dont like it, they went with way too much plastic like the new X, sure will be interesting how they sell...

It certainly isn't exciting. But I'll bet as a daily driver there's no competition for ride. Regarding the photo of the back of the center console: that's one thoughtless, boring and clunky design.

haven't I seen that before? way to go ford lol, the expedition is now nothing more than a slightly larger X.. I have to say I'm rathre disappointed in fords new "look".. its all plastic like the imports.. I don't like that, I dont feel as safe in a plastic bubble. Also.. unless they've made some major changes in plastics in the past few years, all this palstic stuff is gonna like.. rott away in 10 years.. ever see the cadillacs with the taillight spacers missing or cracked, faded? I see it everywhere.. I'm not trusing my transportation with that lol

Sorry guys but I like the look of this truck. It's like it's locked front and rear. hehe Ford sort of stole the 4x4 design from the mercedes SUV's. With a vehicle that big, I don't think the limited wheel travel from the IRS is such an issue as it is with the explorer. I bet the ride is sily smooooooth.

I don't like this new look ford is giving to all their dashboards.

This new Expedition is bland on the areas by the radio and climate controls. It is like that with those newer F350's, the outside looks great, but the dash just seems so....cheap.

The last good dash I liked was in the Explorers before the white faced guages.

Just my 2 cents..or with the current exchange rate,4 Canadian cents :(

i like everything they are doing except for the ugly plastic cladding they are covering their new trucks in. thats why we are painting all of it on our new escape.

I wonder if the new 4wd Expeditions are going to be 4 inches higher than the 2wd ones. Pre-2003 4wd Expeditions have more ground clearence than 2wd ones.

it's ok. i would like it better if it didnt have so much plastic. it doesnt look like anything new. the 97-02 expeditions actually look more modern than the new ones.

Just got back from the Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo and they have a 2003 Expedition on display. At first glance me and friend thought that it was the 2002 Explorer but then I looked more closely and noticed it wasn't. There are some things that are nice about it. For instance all 3 seats in the middle will slide forward or backward independent of the other 2. I thought that was a nice touch. The overhead DVD player and screen were nice too. This particular one had power folding rear seats. I can tell you one thing and that is that those things are going to break real fast. The rear seat is really 2 seats and you can put down one half or both.(Similar to the Explorers) So there are two controls (one for each side). Well in this particular Expedition the driver's side rear seat power fold control didn't work. At first I figured that they just had the battery disconnected like many cars at car shows do. But I decided to hit the passenger side button and it worked. That did not leave a kind impression in my head. Overall its just a 2002 Explorer with a little extra room inside.

Other interesting vehicles I took a good look at included the Pontiac Aztec, Yukon Denali Pickup with 4 wheel steering, Chevy Avalanche, Ford SuperCruizer, 2002 Ram 1500, and the Lincoln Blackwood.

lol, isn't that something.. the truck isn't even on the lots yet and its already having parts break? man.. I'm gettin alittle worried about the quality of the new cars they're making these days
