I have a '93 XLT 5 spd with 150K miles (original trans, clutch replaced at 70K - starting to get hard to get into first and reverse when stopped - aargh). I use Amsoil synthetic ATF in the transmission.

I recently purchased a 3000 lb 22 ft sailboat (2500 lb boat, 500 lb trailer) - it was a great price. The trailer is a single axle, no electric brakes.

HELP! Suggestions for towing this boat? Hitch?

Thanks for all suggestions.

Buy a class 3 hitch from Walmart for 100 bucks and install it yourself in about an hour's time. I bought my Reese hitch there and it works great. Bolts right in. Then you need a reciever that will keep your trailer pretty level. Check the trailer for what size ball it uses. Typically 1 7/8 or 2" ball is required.

Good Luck,
