I'm one rim short of having an extra set of four, and I've been tempted to pick up the extra rim and have an extra set of tires. Maybe get some nice A/T's or M/T's to store and use when I go "exploring" and have a cheap set of all seasons for the daily driving. My main question is how well do tires "keep"? This kind of thinking wouldn't work well if the tires just rotted before I get the use out of them.

As long as you keep them in a garage away from the elements they should be fine. The sun is going to be your worst enemy.

Also I've been told not to leave then on dirct contact with cement for really long periods. maybe putting them up on a few 2X4's would be best.

We store our tires at work for extended periods of tire. The biggest thing is leave them standing up, as if they are on the vehicle. Don't ever lay a tire on it's side on the ground. Lower your pressure to 15 psi and you'll be fine. I have never heard of anything about concrete, but that doesn't mean it's possible.

Yeah I dunno where I heard that, but figured better put them on 2X4's then be sorry from dry rot.
