View Full Version : Reverse Indiglo Gauges Group Buy Poll
ChuckyD 02-21-2002, 03:02 PM Sorry everyone.... its a no go for the gauges! :(
Feel free to try to get one going on your own... i've been aggrivated too much already by the rude A-holes I have delt with.
Sorry again!
I took the liberty in calling a company who I know makes Reverse Indiglo Gauges...www.nuimage1.com (for those of you who don't know they are when the Face is white or silver and the numbers are indiglo blue) And I wanted to see if they made them for our Explorers... well they informed within the next few weeks they should be ready to be sold.... BUT they the manufacturer) don't sell them, they only sell to other retailers... so good luck trying to find a good and reliable retailer (I.a. Procarparts which are a bunch or crooks) So then I asked about group purchases... he said they will do that. I have to come up with at least 20 absolutely positively "YES I will by them" 's
If we can do this we get 25% off the retail price... that comes out to be around 75-80 bucks... and they are QUALITY gauges! Please only vote and respond only if you are positive..
Now lets get some gauges!!!!! Who's with me?????
List your name And model Year ... thanks!
Here's what they should look like.. (picture is from procarparts.com.. do a search on them in explorerforum and you'll find a thread that I started with about 150 out of over 650 complaints they received from EBAY so don't get it form them!)
So far we got:

4Wheelin 02-21-2002, 03:46 PM I'll definitly take a set! I have a 93 Sport.
ChuckyD 02-21-2002, 04:29 PM 2 DOWN 18 TO GO...I WANT THEM TOO ... THEY ARE ALSO MAKING AC GAUGES TO MATCH...THATS A WHOLE OTHER BEAST THOUGH
4Wheelin 02-21-2002, 05:04 PM I would love a set of matching a/c gauges. Those would be INSANE!!
ChuckyD 02-21-2002, 10:07 PM im pretty sure you can jump in and get a set also espn
Are they all going to be blue? I know this sounds rediculous, but the interior lighting and knobs and guages are all green now. I am scared to have more than one color!
ChuckyD 02-21-2002, 11:10 PM Well, in my opinion, once youn see how kool blue look in your intereior youll want to change everything!... i have a Blue colored Headunit and i cant want to get something that matches cause it looks that kool! But by no means does my HU look outn of place with all the rest of my interior clusters
I guess that is true. My HU is a blue screen with either green or red buttons. The red looks cool but not with all the green. Maybe all the colors can be changed to blue. I am going to have to look into that.
Lifted95X 02-22-2002, 02:43 PM They have them for 95+?
ChuckyD 02-22-2002, 02:51 PM im pretty sure they do
Lifted95X 02-22-2002, 02:52 PM Could you find out.
ChuckyD 02-22-2002, 02:57 PM Yup, i just called them... around the same time they will be coming out with them. (2-3 weeks)
By the way they are known as Platinum series gauges (silver face blue numbers) they also come in diamond series (white face with the blue numbers)
ChuckyD 02-22-2002, 03:07 PM ok there are 3 yes votes and only 2 that i know of... whos the third???
Lifted95X 02-22-2002, 03:09 PM Me...If I can get a peek at the ones for the second Gen. before I lay the money down...count me in. If they look as good as the ones for 1st gen. ......I'm sold.
ChuckyD 02-22-2002, 03:20 PM Just picture that.... for an explorer though
Lifted95X 02-22-2002, 03:23 PM Im in.
Harry5150 02-22-2002, 03:27 PM I'm in for a blue on white gauges for a 1997 and also an A/C panel.
Do you think that they could do one for the rear A/C radio controls? I'm willing to submit mine for a template.
Harry
ChuckyD 02-22-2002, 03:34 PM im not sure whats going on with the AC panels as of yet, i wanted to tackle the gauges first...
i think the have templates just have to wait for them to make it... they told me 3 weeks so im trying to get things going by then.
ChuckyD 02-22-2002, 04:31 PM Just so there is no confusion... this is only for the silver with the blue numbers only... no white face.
XplorerXLT94 02-23-2002, 02:32 AM K here is a msg to remind you guys to add me to the list.....
Add me to the list....

parli22 02-25-2002, 11:17 PM So you guys know I just put a set in a 1992 explorer and they are hot silver in the day and black w/ blue numbers at night and you can switch them from blue numbers to green with a switch
I got mine from ProcarParts.com/ won them won them from ebay w/ shipping for 79.00.
So you guys know when and if you guys install them it is not easier to remove the gauge cluster. Do the installation in the dash it easier and all you guys are going to have to glue the gauges face in. they don't sit straight because of the wires.
One more thing you can't run the gauges fo the switch I learned the hard way you have to run a seperate power source with a switch to operate the gauges.
IF you want to see picture e-mail me later and I put them up..
Chris

parli22 02-25-2002, 11:21 PM Also let me know about the reverse indiglo gauges covers for the AC/HEAT controlls I'm interested in that ..

You can't run these off the existing light source???? Please email pic..I would appreciate it.
if you have to run a new switch that makes them sepperate I would just use a relay from the existing aswitch to keep it all together.
ChuckyD 02-26-2002, 12:49 PM Parli... what you are saying is not accurate, depending on the type of guages you get they are installed differently.... i am almost 100 % positive that the ones im am trying to get run off the exsisting power and it replaces the entire cluster.... please dont comment if you are not completely sure...
Thank you
Everyone, i will find out for sure as soon as i can...
Also, as everyone knows... Procarparts have had alot of issues with a number of thigs including product quality and service, using them is a risk i am not willing to make based on the negative feedback from Ebay.
88vert 02-26-2002, 12:58 PM Im in 92 sport.
4Wheelin 02-26-2002, 02:08 PM I would love to see a pic if you could send me one. cowboyz1659@hotmail.com
Thanks
ChuckyD 02-26-2002, 03:01 PM I am correct... it runs off of the stock wires and it REPLACES the existing gauges
offroader_69_me 02-26-2002, 09:58 PM please put me in for a 91-94 set!
parli22 02-26-2002, 10:12 PM Picture I will put up later this week if possible
parli22 02-26-2002, 10:16 PM OKay
your the boss
I was just trying to help
I keep my two cent out of the pot
Peace:fire:
4Wheelin 02-27-2002, 12:16 PM If you have to replace the existing gauges then do you still have to take the needles off?
ChuckyD 02-27-2002, 12:23 PM the needles arent apart of the actual face... so you would have to reuse them.
leebo 03-01-2002, 06:48 AM Well everybody due to some disagreements in members' I'm going to try and email the company and ask them about the wires and mounting. I have NO idea how the gauges mount so I'll be posting the exact email they send me and I'll make sure that I post it.
parli22,
If you want to email me the pic I'll upload it and host it for you.
Lee
nathan_callaway 03-04-2002, 01:16 PM Please reserve me a set for a 91-94 sport.
Thanks,

99EXPY 03-04-2002, 07:18 PM Are you guys sure that these are reverse indiglo guages? To me they look like they are just silver faced gauges they have a blueish glow to them at night just like my nrauto white face gauges. My buddy has the diamond series which are the white faced ones and they are not reverse indiglo they are just a blusish glowing color. Nu Image gauges are not the same brand offered by procarparts for 91-94 so i dont think they are the same. You might want to check this out further. Let me know cause if they are reverse indiglo then im in for a set for my 99.
ChuckyD 03-04-2002, 10:11 PM They are not the some ones from procarparts.. I used that picture so you can get the idea, I also used the term reverse indiglo because that's what procarparts uses.. in my posts I corrected the terminology I used. they are called platinum series gauges... they are, as I described in earlier posts, silver background with blue numbers, at night the silvers looks almost black.
basically the same as procarparts but of a much better quality (from what I was made to understand)
Also.. Please read the entire thread so I don't have to repeat myself again... everything I typed here has been discussed in the thread at some point.
Thank you
99EXPY 03-05-2002, 01:49 PM I had read the whole tread twice before i posted the first time, I know they are not the ones from procarparts, im just letting you know that they are NOT reverse indiglo. There is a huge difference between reverse indiglo and what these plantinum gauges are. You are not going to get the bright blue glow like the procarparts ones, like i said before you will just get a blueish tint to them just like on white face guages. im just letting people out there know that they are not like the picture from procarparts and do not have that same bright glow at night that you get from reverse indiglo, because it seems to me that everyone has been mislead into thinking this. just tryin to help. Thanks
Lifted95X 03-05-2002, 01:51 PM I for one then will hope to see a picture of the true one's before purchasing. Just want to make sure I'm going to like what I get. I don't mean to be a PITA.
craig79054 03-10-2002, 11:57 PM count me in on the gauge deal i think they look SICK!!!!!! :D

alphasylum 03-17-2002, 11:34 AM whats the update on these?
ChuckyD 03-17-2002, 12:05 PM I dont think were getting it... we need at least 20...i dont see 20 people...lol
4Wheelin 03-17-2002, 01:07 PM I think it might help to advertise this in other forums too.
alphasylum 03-17-2002, 01:45 PM well count me in.....how many do we have ?
I think the silver will go sweet with grey interior.
RvExplorerRV 03-23-2002, 11:35 PM Man those things would look great in my 2000 X Sport.
Sign me up!
ChuckyD 03-23-2002, 11:56 PM Little by Little..keep em coming!
4Wheelin 04-03-2002, 03:41 PM I don't think they carry ones for our Explorers though.
ChuckyD 04-03-2002, 03:43 PM yeah i just deleted what i wrote.... they didnt make them at all yet... i thought they did cause the had them shown on the nuimage site.... but we still have about a month or so till they are made.... so we'll see what happens then.
TwoToneX 04-03-2002, 03:46 PM What's the verdict here? Do we know what they look like, and can we get a picture? I'd be interested depending on how they look. I'd like to get those reverse indiglo's though...
4Wheelin 04-03-2002, 11:39 PM I found a guy through explorerunderground.com that will do 5 orders for $90 and 10 orders for $85 so as long as he carries the 91-94 gauges then we are already set. Once he emails me back with the definites I will let you guys know.
Explorer1 04-04-2002, 12:31 AM Count me in as long as they got the speedo in in the 100 mph. Im from canada and i have the higher speedo on mine. It actually goes higher than 85 mph. It reads about 160-180 Kilometers per hours and in miles it is about 100 miles an hour. If so i will take a set for sure but i have been looking everywhere and no one has them.
Thanks i will be watching the posts for updates on this
Explorer1
ChuckyD 04-04-2002, 12:49 PM Explrorer1.. they should have them... on the site they have speedo's for up to 120
Explorer1 04-06-2002, 10:59 PM Im just going to call the store in B.C. canada first because it will be cheaper for me to go that way instead of having it shipped from the U.S.
I live in canada somight be a lot easier if i do it that way.
Shipping from the states if expensive!!! brokerage and shipping adds up fast.
Thanks
88vert 04-23-2002, 10:50 AM Is there a update on this.I found a set on e-bay but I would rather buy from here.I want these guages bad
bigbadfred 04-23-2002, 11:45 AM I have the regular indiglo gauges and love them, but taking the cluster out and putting the new gauges in was a nightmare took over 3 hours. Now what kind of company would send you gauges and not have an adhesive on the back. You have to super glue the gauges on and they dont sit straight and if you don't cut the main speedo gauge off on the top a little, the trip-odometer needle will make the indiglo gauge pop up and look like its coming off.. I had to reglue twice already when I glued really really good the first time. They really do look nice though. My friend bought some from Procarparts and he put them on and 3 weeks later they were broke the switch went bad after 3 weeks. His is the 5 color gauges and mine are the blue and green light and dark shades of these colors and I have a totally different switch then he does. Mine is a knob you turn and his is a switch you push and I have had mine on for 2 months and still no problems with it whatsoever:frustrate
88vert 04-23-2002, 11:48 AM The ones on the net have the five different colers,it claims you do not have to remove the needles. Thanks for the input Fred
ChuckyD 04-23-2002, 01:34 PM Im checking often... they made them forthe ranger but not for the X's yet.... thats all i have so far...
www.truckintrenz.com
i think thats the site .. something like that
that site will have the most current release of the gauges. Check there so you can have a better idea.
When i know something, i will let you know, i want them bad also!
ChewieM16 04-24-2002, 12:16 AM are there any stores that offer these things??
ChuckyD 04-24-2002, 10:28 AM The ones im trying to get here.... No
They havent been made yet.
bigbadfred 04-24-2002, 11:44 AM Yes, what they say is you dont have to remove your needles and they are wrong that is only if you have an import piece of crap rice buner. If you have a vehicle that is made in America and is Ford Tough then you have to remove the needles and lets just say that the needles sometimes don't go where you want them to. After the install all my needles were right on. After shutting my vehicle off my Battery needle went all the way to the left and got stuck so, I would have to hit the dash for it to resume normal position and after doing this 20 or so times, it is now in its normal position. So, they are wrong on saying that you don't have to remove the needles because you do and because you have to super glue them in and How are you going to do this with the needles still intact.:fire:
bigbadfred 04-24-2002, 12:13 PM I think my brush guard is coming off and going to be up for sale and I think I am going for the street look because I rarely go off roading and I like the street look more but I do admit there are guys out here with some awesome off roading rides:D
Mustangc1923 04-24-2002, 12:17 PM fred if you do sell your brushg guard i might be interested please let me know
ChuckyD 04-24-2002, 12:22 PM http://www.truckintrends.com/
thats the site i was talking about
bigbadfred 04-24-2002, 12:27 PM send me your email address and I will send you some pics of it and it is for a 91-94 ford explorer. I paid 375 for it new about 1 and 1/2 years ago and I want 175 plus shipping minus the fogs I have on it those will be extra but I most likely wont sell them because I like them. The brush guard is nice but has 2 little spots of rust which you can sand down and spray paint other than that it is in good shape.
yamaman 05-01-2002, 12:29 AM Count me in for the gauges, silver on blue.

ChuckyD 05-01-2002, 10:08 AM marked ya down... anyone else????
LowdPypes 05-03-2002, 10:13 PM silver on blue... (sure wish they had silver on purple) also, I want the AC panel too! :) I am sure that they can work something out.
bronx explorer 05-08-2002, 03:40 AM hay watz up im in 2 i was looking 4 it as well. any way watz up im new 2 this site. thanks jay"exploring the bronx"
BetchaCantRide 05-08-2002, 11:09 AM Put me on the list! Silver on blue sounds nice! I don't really care for the gauges that the WHOLE face lights up - just the numbers.
2000 X Sport Auto 4X4
When I get them I'll be :bounce:
ChuckyD 05-08-2002, 12:33 PM Now we're talking... keep em comin!!!!
jwrezz 05-08-2002, 01:04 PM I have the indiglo guages installed (wasn't that hard, only about 1.5 hrs w/ breaks). I didn't have to take the needles off, but I have a question for others that have done this. Did you take the old faces off? I just laid the new ones on top of the old ones. It was a pain to get the "break" "speed control" and other lites to line up w/ the old ones, but I got it pretty good. But I was thinkin if I didn't have to line them up w/ the old ones it would probably look much better. Thanx for any help!
ChuckyD 05-08-2002, 01:29 PM The ones you have are different that ones we're trying to get here.... these are replacement gauges.
Timmy 05-08-2002, 02:47 PM If this is still going on (I noticed this thread started months ago)
Count me in!
02 Explorer.... Silver/Blue(Platinum)
ChuckyD 05-08-2002, 10:14 PM I hope i can get them for an 02.. and yes its still going on until they actually make them!
Thats what we're waiting for.
LowdPypes 05-08-2002, 10:15 PM when are we getting these?
ChuckyD 05-08-2002, 10:30 PM The best answer i have for you is, as soon as they make them... they told me 3 months ago that in a couple of weeks they would be done. The next time im at work ill give them a call, again... sorry!
Timmy 05-08-2002, 10:46 PM Yeah you can search for 2002 on their page so I'm guessing those are coming out too?
Lifted95X 05-09-2002, 12:48 PM This was probably answered in the post somewhere but I just Browsed it and came up empty. Is it certain now that the needles have to be removed???
Josh S. 05-21-2002, 05:03 PM Alright...can someone lay it down again? As in, what we're getting, when we're getting it and how much is it? I read the whole thread, but its confusing as hell with all the side comments and talk about indiglo and crap. I am interested so pleasse give me an update.
Thank you (josh schulz, 93 sport)
Timmy 05-26-2002, 06:08 PM There is no price yet, the company hasnt even started production on them.
ChuckyD 05-27-2002, 03:49 PM As an update.. apperently they have. www.stylinconcepts.com is who is selling them. The company themselves are a bunch of A-Holes... they told me no more group buys direct from the company, so im trying to talk to stylinconcepts and see if they will do one.. ill let you all know.
ChuckyD 06-29-2002, 06:18 PM http://www.truckintrends.com/silvergauges.asp?id=184&make=13&cat=2

dejello 07-06-2002, 11:13 PM Well, I'm in if it works out
ChuckyD 07-07-2002, 12:14 AM anyone else want to take a crack at it.. im about to drive over to these places and burn their buildings down... lol

Okay, here's a thought. Check out www.speedhut.com. It seems as though they have no problem making the custom gauges for all of those who are interested, as long as there are atleast 20 commited orders.
The following is taking directly from there website:
Current Model development Programs
**We have lowered the miniumum group buy to 20 to make it easier to get your car tooled**
The following cars can be pre-ordered. Once we have 20 Pre-orders we will begin tooling the car. Tooling takes approx. 8-12 weeks so hang in there! Your Credit Card is NOT charged until after we reach the 20 pre-orders. All the same options available on the web site are available for these pre-order cars below.
EACH INDIVIDUAL WILL GET TO CHOOSE THEIR OWN UNIQUE CUSTOM OPTIONS- (COLORS, FONTS, STANDARD GRAPHICS, LOGOS, ETC. AT NO ADDITIONAL COST). Once the tooling is done (8-10 weeks) we will ship them out individually to each person. We will notify each person before manufacturing their gauges to confirm their order via email or telephone.

dejello 07-23-2002, 08:15 AM hey, cancel my bid for now. sorry, got some elsewhere and gonna try them out
ChuckyD 07-23-2002, 08:56 AM how much did you pay and where did u get them from?
dejello 07-23-2002, 04:32 PM It's just those ones off of eBay. I've heard good things and bad things about them, some i think in this thread... I'd still be interested in A/C ones though. And if for some reason these ones don't work for me, I'll be back. Oh, I won them for $30 cause no one else bid on them.
dejello 07-23-2002, 05:47 PM BTW-What's different between the 91-92 and 93-94 model gauges? I realize I haven't looked at them closely, but they look the same to me. www.truckintrends.com has the 93-94 gauges, that's why I ask
ChuckyD 07-23-2002, 07:40 PM havent a clue
BonesDT 07-25-2002, 05:40 PM see. people get p*ssed off when others dont read the whole thread. i just wasted so much time reading every word in this whole thread gettin my hopes up and just to find out its cancelled. people who have ignorant replys in threads this long should really be excused.
anyway, i don't like the white background much, so i spent a whole summer once trying to replace every light in my car to blue. i removed my factory guage plate and found that the color is made by paint on the back, you can scratch that paint off and repaint it a different color if you want. i ended up replacing my needle 18 mph off though and i had to pretend it was an accident and get a new guage off warranty.
i would like to try this again. does anyone know how to remove it without removing any needles or how to replace the needles perfectly?
ChuckyD 07-25-2002, 08:07 PM LOL sorry man, im going to close the thread so noone gets confused... do me a favor and start another thread just for the question you asked...
Thanks
