I'm looking to upgrade the exhaust on my '97 Mountaineer V8 by the end of the summer if I have a job when I graduate in May. I want 2 1/2" single out. I don't want much cabin noise when driving around except at full throttle. It needs to have a nice sounding low rumble, not again not too loud. A little louder than stock if fine. I'm really just looking for a little more exhaust flow without looking obvious that it has an upgraded exhaust--called being stealth.

From what you described that you want, I recommend getting a 50 series Flowmaster muffler and have a muffler shop bend some pipes and weld some chrome tips for you. Mine cost $250. I have a pics link in my sig with some exhaust pics to show you what it will look like.

I got a 50 Series on mine... love it.
Def get the custome Bend! My muffler was about 80 and it Cost me about 130 To get the pipes bent and installed.
When the truck starts theres a nice rumble but not overpowering. But when you get on it, between the KKM and the Exhaust, it sounds MEAN!!!
* Now if i could get it to go as fast as it sounds...LOL*
