Well prom at my high school is coming up in about a month here, and even though me and my girlfriend have been together over a year i'm sure she expects me to ask her in some exciting way. Anyone got any ideas?? Thanks!

I'd like to help you but I've been married for a couple of years and have been out of the dating thing for a long time now. I would just say, "We're going to the prom." See, bad example. That's what I like about marriage, takes the uncertainty out of it. Usually.

Spell out "Will you go to prom with me" in scrabble letters, mix them up and put them in something. Take her to dinner and while waiting for your dinner give her the letters to unscramble.

Heh I'm at a loss. She should just "know" that she's going to the prom with you.

or you could just say "You know your going to the prom with me, right?"

I think she just wants me to do something nifty so she can tell all her friends or whatever, i've stopped trying to figure out what girls are thinking. any more ideas!???

I figured you'll be ok with not asking as long as you don't show up late or mess anything up on prom night, that's when they get a little mean ;)

Asking your girl to prom is a really big deal. Me and my girl broke up my senior year and we were dating other people. I dated a girl at my school. She wanted to go to prom....however my girlfriend went to a Christian private school where dancing isn't allowed (Prom was extra special to her.) We had started dating each other again but I didn't have the heart to break things off with the other girl so that we could go to prom. Needless to say I didn't go with either of them and later me and my X(as in x-girlfriend) got back together. It has been 2 years and I still pay for my decision every once in a while. As long as you take her then she has nothing to complain about.

TRY SENDING HER A DOZEN BALLOONS WITH

WILL YOU GO TO THE PROM WITH ME

SPELLED OUT ONE WORD ON EACH BALLOON AND LET HER UNSCRAMBLE THEM

THEN SEND THEM TO HER AT WORK OR SOME SPECIAL PLACE

I foyu want to spend some $$$ then one idea is to buy a full page ad i the paper. Or you could rent a billboard on a road she drives on.

Give me her phone # and i will call her and tell her that you want her to go to the prom with you.

This one worked for me:
We went out to a nice restraunt and right after were seated I told her I had to go to the bathroom. But that was a lie. I went back to the waitress and asked her to put this note (that was on really fancy paper and in caligraphy said "Will you go to the prom with me?") wrapped up in the napkin. When she unwrapped she saw the note and was enternally delighted. So that is my reccomendation. Another idea is leaving a note on the dashboard of her car (providing she has one) so the first time she gets in it she will see it. Just my $.02

make her a puzzle. you can buy blank puzzle kits in the shape of a heart and then paint the words on it- girls always love that one.

or you could get the chalk stuff that you can write on glass with and write it on her car while she's in school. this ones good because she feels special because everyone knows you asked her in a cool way (she really only wants you to do this so she can show off to her girlfiends anyways). also when you do this try to fill her car with balloons as well.

or try to get it announced over the loudspeaker at high school (youngin). this is what i did, i was on student council and we were doing a verbal skit telling everyone about a pep rally and i just tossed the question out to her in front of the whole school. once again this ones good because everyone will know about it.

another good one is to write it in chocolate kisses on the floor of her bedroom and put a couple of roses in there too. when she comes home she will melt...

or lastly spell it out in chalk or something on her driveway when she's away.


as for why you have ot ask her at all. i have no idea! but i went through the same thing for every dance during high school with various girls. they just want to make a fool out of you/ look special in front of their friends.

i always like to use teddy bears. Find out who her locker partner is and have her let you in to your girlfriends locker before school. Place a teddy bear in the locker with a little note in its hands "Will you go to prom with me?" Then she can toat it around school and brag..

After my last GF though, Id personally try this: tell her if she wants to go, she can pay for the damn limo.. cause shes probably just a freeloader anyway.... bitter? huh? me? never ;)

If you want to have a little fun, do what I did. I had her best friend call her and say how I asked some third party girl (I told her to make up a name). In the mean time, I told her mom and came over her house. As she was on the phone in the room all blah, I walked in with a smile and a rose. It was pretty cool...

True but unlike a wedding.....your most likely to never have another ;) Unless your some perve dating children.

Just be careful. I asked my girlfriend (a whole bunch of years ago) if she wanted to go to the prom and she said yes. A couple of weeks later I asked her what color dress she was wearing. She didn't know what I was talking about. I reminded her about the fact she said she wanted to go to the prom. She looked shocked and said she didn't realize I was asking her to go to the prom, she just thought I wanted to know if she wanted to go. DUH. She was blond then and she still is. She is an interior designer and I am a Rocket Scientist.

p.s. I think she makes about $67 more an hour than I do. Go figure.

I went into my girlfriend's first period class a few minutes before school and wrote it really big on the chalk board. Mad brownie points for that one.

Find some old box that looks pretty dang trashed. Stuff an old suit in it. Make sure to get it real wrinkled. Then have it sent to her. How you send it is up to you. :) When she opens it she finds this suit. Have a note in there saying something to the effect of, "Do you know how to iron? I want to go to the prom with ya but I don't know how to iron.". Then when she calls you all pissed off just say, I am am kidding! I was gonna rent a tux! LOL

Course I am a prankster like that. I asked Maranda to marry me by putting her ring in a trash can! :D

I was seein a girl right before prom, and her and her best friend worked together. Her friend was on the shift before her, so I had my best friend (who neither of them knew yet) bring in a dozen roses and in the card, it asked her to prom. It definately worked for me... I mean if ya get yer g/f roses often, it doesn't work as well, but if ya rarely give em to her, she'll love it

At my school there are Junior & Senior proms
but to me it's only special when you go once.

I went with the guy I was dating at that time,
I was a junior and he was a senior. The only time
in history when my friends and family saw me in a dress.
Made it even more special to see the look on everyone's face because vain or not I looked damn good.

I went to prom as a junior last year and I hated it, it was nothing special. Everyone was F*cked up and I had to drive that night (not enough $$$ to rent limo, rents wouldn't shell out the cash).

I may not even be going to my senior prom.

Actually, Sarah, your ideas are pretty creative! I will ask you for advice when I have something coming up (no, not a prom, don't worry. I'm too old and too married ;) ) But stuff like First-Kiss-Anniversary, First-Time-Spent-The-Night-Together-Anniversary (:D I like that one :D) Engagement-Anniversary, Wedding-Anniversary, Valentines Day, Mother's Day (can't wait until my boys are old enough for thinking of something themselves), Fathers Day (the only day we usualy don't celebrate).

write your proposal on your thing.. who knows you might get double lucky.

ask if she want to buy a raffle ticket... the prise goign with you in your ex to prom.

dudes, i feel old. i went to 4 proms and they all were insane in their own way. it usually ended up with me with a different girl at the end of the next morning and not remembering what happenned.

Well i was contemplating many ideas, most by u guys (thanks!), and i think what i am going to do is buy her a "Build-A-Bear" bunny (stuffed animals that u can add stuff to like ur voice and stuff like that) for easter, then have the voice say will you go with me to prom? or something like that...how does that sound???
