My friend just got an Xterra, and he's looking around to try to find a good messageboard (he's jealous of me and the board here :D ). Anyway, so far he's found the Xterra Owners Club (http://www.xterraownersclub.com/forums.html), and I was just wondering if anyone knew of any other good ones out there?

Thanks

That Xterra board you cited there is VERY comprehensive and should have everything he needs to know.

I think they have a monopoly on Xterra sites :D

Cool, I'll let him know he found the winner. Thanks

yup you found the best one. And I've seen the webmasters xterra and it is actually very sweet, I was very impressed with it.

Cool. But now, the important question: would he be able to keep up with us Explorers on the trails??? :D :D

Isn't that the board that started that HUGE arguement with us a while back?

I don't remember a huge argument. Must've been before I got here. What happened?

the exterras basically said we sucked and couldnt wheel like they could.... same as the jeepers....

yes, that was said by them. but i think the argument was actually started because someone on this site said the Xterra sucked. then the thread on their site was something like "look what the explorer owners are saying about our xterra's"

the whole thing got out of control pretty quick.

Yes they can stay with us on most any trail.

You should see the "discussion" they started on the POR board. Got themselves in way too deep.

FYI, I have no doubt that that webmasters truck would be at least able to keep up with most folks on the board. i haven't checked out the site lately to see how wild everyone is going with them. I'd say they'd have av ery difficult time keeping up with some like the great pumpkin and others with Solid Axles and big ol honkin gears and so forth.

diablo,

Here's another that may be what you're lookin' for:
http://www2.4x4parts.com/cgi-local/ultimatebb.cgi

It doesn't have the volume of traffic that XOC does, but it's another option. FYI, it's the discussion board on the Automotice Customizers site (4x4parts.com)

Oh, and those arguements between make owners mentioned above, it's usually just a few knuckleheads who start it...don't let those few morons distort how the rest of more stable people are perceived. :chug:

That is some funny S**T!!! After reading this post, I had to search for it over at POR. And about an hour later, all I can do is laugh. What a bunch of morons. They definately came to the wrong place. Those videos were pretty hard core. LOL.

I had to look at their site XOC. I checked out some of their runs... OMG... They had a photo named the trail gets tougher or something like that, and it was just a joke... If we had a stocker run like that for our Explorers, I would be hung by the neck... Talk about ZERO challenge...

Then you notice their group shots and the only thing different about the trucks is the color... No creativity.

So is someone gonna post links to all these threads/pictures you guys are talking about?

It's amazing that no matter how much I know about computers, I'm still pretty inept at searching sites...

I would rather not post a link to the thread. And I don't want to dig through all their photos again.. Sorry.

Xterras have only been on the market for under 2 1/2 years. Not a ton of aftermarket stuff just yet. Explorers have been out for how many years now and there's probably 100x (or more) as many on the road? Give it some time - we're finally seeing some quality lift kits, lockers, etc.

In case any of you are wondering why I'm here anyway, I have a couple friends w/ Explorers here who wheel with us sometimes - it's all for the love of the sport.

Have a nice day. :)

Wow, I didn't know I was bringing up such a controversial topic  Oh well, seems interesting. Just to show my lack of messageboard intelligence, what is POR? The only think I can think of is Pirate Off Road, I don't know if that's it.

Actually the stuff came out faster for the Xterra than it did for the late model Explorers. Only after the IFS Explorers were out for 6 years did lift kits finally hit the market. That didn't stop our guys from coming up with their own solutions for lifting and fitting 33's and 35's.

Okay Pal. Pissing match acknowledged. I have no desire to argue who's "more assertive" though. You win. ;)

Diablo - POR is "Pirates of Rubicon" - hard core folks that look down on modern trucks/SUVs that aren't "built" to their standards. They get into it with anyone that wants to rumble. It's always a big joke in the end though. Pages and pages of name-calling and bragging.

Sorry guys but I just have to agree with johnx, if you are interested in starting out in fourwheeling do not even go to that site! They will totally ruin your dreams of offroading your truck. They are so negative there it is ridiculous.

they also got one going on www.colorado4x4.org
Doesn't sound like they are the best group around, but I have never wheeled with any of them so I can't say..
I personally can't see how someone can say something good or bad unless they have been there first hand.
