Not something you want to try! I knocked the barrier around my pool over and kerplop... The Maxx was floating upside down in the pool!

I pulled it out, yanked off the battery connectors and immediately started disassmebly. I removed the reciever, speed controller and motors first.

I opened up the cases on the speed control and reciever, pulled out the circuit boards and blew everything out with compressed air. Then I let them sit out in the sun the rest of the day.

Next I blew out the motor as best I could, then I went for the servos, diffs and transmission. Everything had water in it!

Well, it's been 2 or 3 days since this happened and everything works fine. The motors sounded pretty rough, so I bought some motor cleaner, motor oil and commutator lube. Did all that and now it sounds smooth as silk!

I'm REALLY lucky I didn't fry something!!

Let's see... I've had it a week or so and I've..

Fried the original ESC, but it was replaced for free. Broke an axle, bent a turnbuckle. thrashed my new Dodge body pretty good, and took it swimming.

Let's see what we can do for next week!

We got my daughter an el-cheapo Radio Shack remote control pickup for Christmas (She's just about 4, so no WAY am I getting her a good one). So far I've had to tear it apart several times to fix various wiring harness's that have broken from impacts with things like my X, the garage door, the shed, etc. It also took a bath, but in the snow. I tore it all apart asap, dried it out, let it sit, and it's fine. Electronic components can handle water if there is no power applied to them when they get wet, and they are thoroughly dried. We regularly clean our circuit boards off at work in an ultrasonic cleaner full of water and soap, rinse them under a faucet, and then toss them in a 150° oven overnight to dry them out.

its hard to break anything expensive on these trucks. basically they are all made up of relatively innexpensive parts, that cost alot of money when put together. 10 bucks here, 30 bucks there, it adds up to be in the several hundred range. there are certain parts that, when they break, break other parts. if you break a bulkhead, you can easily damage suspension components, causing the chassis to get a tweak. relatively, and in all honesty Rick, your about on schedule with stock parts breaking after a good thrashing. i was at the LHS and saw the X-body that i was telling you about, and yes, its the 4 door, gen 2 bodystyle (thats the rounded one i believe right?) i have yet to see a new body style X for the Maxx yet, but i have seen the sport-trac.

im waiting to see if your going to do any crazy custom mod's to that maxx. I.E. make it so you can drive on the H2O, yes its possible, i know a guy that drove a Jugg 2 on water.

good luck with the maxx.

Wow, sounds like you drive that rc truck like crazy. Ya, its better than gettin a real truck soaked. I blew a MSC on my traxxas rustler once and it started on fire!!!
