View Full Version : light in keypad? alphabets13 04-14-2002, 05:59 PM there is supposed to be one right? if so, mine is burnt out. how do you get to it, take off the door panel and hopefully its right there? Robb 04-14-2002, 07:27 PM There is supposed to be one. Mine has been burnt out for years. Just keep practicing your code in the daylight, and it becomes like 2nd nature. alphabets13 04-14-2002, 07:37 PM thats what i already do. i just figured if it was easy one of these days i would do it. the thing that got me was my manual has practically every bulb in my x listed but none for the keypad. although in the programming your keypad section it says it should illuminate when you hit the #s. Robert 05-10-2002, 04:08 PM The bulb in the keypad is not replaceable. Ford wants to sell you the entire keypad. I've never looked at mine with the panel removed, but if you could find out Ford's supplier for the bulb they put in there, you could probably find one that would work. Ford only stocks the keypad assembly and doesn't list a part number for the bulb. I'm sure an Engineering drawing would probably show the break-down but good luck getting your hands on that. alphabets13 05-12-2002, 07:35 AM i thought it would be just one of those wedge bulbs like everything else. i'm just gonna take the door panel off and see what i can do, but i am not paying $ to ford for a replacement keypad when all i want is the light to come on. its not that important. thanks for the info though. pmhuff 07-08-2002, 06:31 AM Any success on the bulb replacement. Mine is burnt out too! Let me know what you found...how to remove the keypad or bulb. mattadams 07-08-2002, 08:22 AM I doubt you will find a replacement bulb for it. The replacement keypad will be about $25-30 (at least thats what I paid for mine) but the bulb will be just as much as the keypad by the time you get done with it. Don't worry the keypad is a cynch to swap out. Brian97V8 07-08-2002, 06:55 PM Matt, Where did you find the part for $30 I would like to know so I can order one myself mattadams 07-08-2002, 09:04 PM whoops, I got it confused. When I did the keypad mod in my truck the handle cost $35 and the keypad cost $60. Sorry about that! It was www.fordpartsonline.com Brian97V8 07-08-2002, 09:12 PM What catagory is it in do you remember? mattadams 07-08-2002, 10:15 PM I actually called the guy to get the price. The actual name of hte product is "door lock actuator assembly" |
