View Full Version : Ladies I'm Curious
Dan Whitaker 04-25-2002, 12:26 AM When you go shoping for new clothes and your husband or boyfriend is with you and ask him does this look good on me and he responds no do you ask another woman shoping that you don't even know how it looks. My wife does this all the time!
First of all, my husband only goes shopping with me about once in a blue moon. In fact, I can't remember the last time he went. But to answer your question, not usually because he is honest and has always told me if I look good in something or not. He tells me if an outfit I'm wearing doesn't look nice and I've changed my clothes. The only time we tend to clash is when I'm wearing something LOUD. He hates those outfits.
As far as asking women I don't know about how an outfit looks, I think all women do. We feel they will usually be more honest than our husbands. Besides, 'it's a girl thing'!
flyguy 04-25-2002, 05:57 AM I just say "Yes babe" no matter what now. I get in too much trouble if i say "That makes you look fatter."

Flyguy, there are two problems with your saying "That makes you look fatter."
1) You're indicating that she is ALREADY fat! Bad Move! :fire:
2) You were too specific. You should answer with "That doesn't look as good on you as your (insert an outfit she really likes and already owns). If she presses as to why say, "I don't know. I guess it doesn't compliment your figure."
You're always safe when you can work a compliment in there. DON'T EVER, EVER, EVER MENTION WEIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
flyguy 04-25-2002, 08:33 PM Hehe. Thats probably why she is pissed most of the time. I think I have mostly given up. Sometimes I think she just has no sense. She will go and try on these outfits made for these stick figure girls... and she has a little bit of a tummy and BIG boobs. Its hard for me to think of something nice to say! sigh.

spiper 04-25-2002, 09:08 PM First of all Dan, try to avoid going at all cost. Then you'll avoid those loaded questions. But if you must go, don't be afraid to tell her you don't like something. Then ask her why some total stranger's opinion is more important than yours, your the one who's gonna have to look at her in what ever she's wearing more than anyone else.

I heard a good one on "my wife and kids" she came up and asked if this outfit looked good on her and his reply was a question to her, "What do I look stupid????"
I personally thought that was a good one.
Char you are good, but for a guy it's hard to be politically correct in speaking. That is part of Teri and my problem, she asked a question and tell her what I think. She doesn't want that, but just to talk back and forth about it.
Flyguy maybe if she asked you how one of those little outfits look on her you could tell her it just doesn't do her fine figure any justice. It just sqeezes those issues out of porportion.
If you need to ask about issues you will have to ask Matt Adams.
flyguy 04-25-2002, 09:57 PM I like that one. "Baby, that just squeezes your figure out of proportion."
Dan Whitaker 04-25-2002, 10:22 PM spiper, thats how I always handle it. I am honest and say no that does not look good on you. 9 times out of ten times she listens. She told me the same thing Char said "It's a girl thing". I figure if I go it is easier than having to return something she bought that I absolutely don't like and she prefers that I manage the checking acount as math is not her stronger suit.
Maranda 04-26-2002, 05:05 PM What I usually hear is, "the top is/isn't tight enough." Apparently this is how Ryan gauges an outfit? LOL
I usually listen to his opinion, but it just feels even better when another woman reinforces his positive comments. ;)

Paul Gagnon 04-26-2002, 09:32 PM A couple of years ago wanted to get my girlfriend (at the time) a birthday present. She wanted to come with me to pick it out. We went into a clothing store and she was looking at blouses. Of course she asked me which one I liked and I told her. And equally as predictable she picked out almost every blouse except for the one I liked. Well after trying them all on and giving me that look when I didn't like one of them I decided that it was best for me to keep my mouth shut. :o No problem, ;) I'm a man, I am not at all offended if a woman doesn't ask me how "this" looks if only because it keeps me out of trouble. ;) Anyway, I sat there on the step of the little platform thingy waiting for her to come out of the changeroom again and after all that she picks up the blouse that I liked and tries it on. Guess what? That was the one she picked... LOL :p Now if I was stupid I would have said something but I'm not (well, not always;))so I just smiled and paid for it. :D
What I've found is that most times the correct answer is "Yes Dear". ;)
Can you take out the garbage when you leave for work?
Yes dear.
Lets go see (insert girly movie title) tonight.
Yes dear.
... a little later that same day...
Does your supper taste alright?
Yes dear.
You do know that it was ready over an hour ago don't you?
Yes dear.
You were at work and not at the bar with your buddies right?
Yes dear.
Are you lieing to me?
Yes dear?
Are you stupid?
Yes dear.
Do I look like an idiot to you?
Yes dear... aw shit...
You're sleeping on the couch tonight buddy.
Yes dear.
Hmm... maybe "Yes dear" isn't such a great answer after all. :nono: :nono: :D:D:D
Maranda 04-27-2002, 07:15 PM How does that Red Green lodge meeting closing go?
"I'm a man,
and I can change,
if I have to...
I guess."
