dunno how many of u know this but i locked up my engine in water a while ago and finally got it back. the place installed a used engine with less miles than my old one. think is it clicks whenever i step on the throttle. anyone know what this is? if so please help
clicks, ticks, knocks? Does it click repeatedly? Does the frequency increase with RPMs? Also, does it matter what gear you're in, speed, rpm under load?
Just saying it clicks doesn't tell us much of anything, thanks!

well its when im in any gear. and while i am accelrating. its a click sound. its a repeating click. it increases with rpms. speed and rpm dont matter.

Can you hear it outside the truck?
Is it any worse when the engine is cold?

could be...
exhaust leak, although they are usually described as a tic.
pushrod/rocker arm wear
lifters
injectors click also
use a screwdriver or steth-scope to pin point the noise.
Good Luck

No I meant when the engine is cold (i.e. at startup). If so, it would lead me to beleive it's a valvetrain problem.

oh, no its not louder. its same volume at start and end. just when i press throttle down. no click on idle.

Well in that case I'm thinking it's the EGR valve. I beleive the Haynes manual describes the test procedure for it.
