I have a 2000 Eddie Bauer explorer and the display on the radio stop working. The radio works but it just doesn't display station or time. Does anyone know if there is a fuse for this? Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks Guys.

Why not do a search on the site? All your questions should be answered.

What most likely is wrong is that the bulb on the radio has burnt out. These are back lit displays and if the bulb burns out, it makes it look like they are not working. This happened on my old Ford radio that was in a tempo. I was able to take the radio apart, buy a $.30 bulb and fix the radio. I hven't attempeted to take apart an Explorer radio yet.

thats wrong. It is not a bulb. Do a search and you will find what the problem is and how you can fix it. search for "radio display out" and you will find a good thread in there somewhere.

Thanks Guys. Don't even waste your time looking for a thread on it. I had the same exact problem with my '99 Limited as did a few others on this site. There is no burned out bulb or fuse in there. Take it back to the dealership. You have a 2000 which should still be under warranty. It will be repalced free of charge.

Yep you can't get away easy on that one. Tell us exactly what happened.

WEll, It was the middle of a snow storm, and I was driving ot my friends house. I was doing find in the snow, then I hit a huge ice pack, I made it though 2 turns, then totall lost controll. I slid up a rock embankment on a corner, and then fell back into the road. the scary part is when a tractor trailor was coming around the corner, slammed its brakes and the back started fishtailing. I have pictures that I can post.

Did they replace the radio or was it something else with the electrical system? i.e. - GEM Module.

Thanks for all the replies!

asterus - post the pictures
2000 Eddie Bauer - they will most likely replace the whole headunit. The problem is that the thing gets really hot and so some of the solderpoints get messed up on one of the circuitboards. If you are still under the factory warranty then by all means get them to replace it. However it will most likely happen again.

Thanks for all the replies! Out with the old and in with the new. They will replace the radio. It's been a few months since getting the new one. So far so good. If it happens again like ok89 said...I will just keep taking it back as long as it is under warranty.
