With prices so cheap for simple stuff like getting your oil changed nowadays I usually get it done somewhere instead of doing it myself, brakes, stupid cheap stuff, I get it done instead of doing it, but these horror stories are what scares me. A guy a used to work with was having his oil changed and the kid started his car with no oil in it! :eek:

lol, i so ment for this to be a reply for another thread, all this studying and drinking is making me go nutty.

That is why I do EVERYTHING myself:eek:

i do regular stuff myself. like oil changes, spark plugs/wires, filters, etc...

I know, whenever I am at the parents place I take care of eveything I can, sometime up here while I'm at college and can't get proper work space access I gotta bring it somewhere and I get so scared. I watch those 12 year olds do my oil, lol.

My buddy took his car to a shop and had the oil changed... they never put oil back in, so his engine blew 10 miles down the road. His old engine had 180k miles on it, he got a brand new engine installed and a rental car for the week... Makes me want to take mine to a shop, I would love a new engine!

he was lucky. there's a lot of shady people out there. of course they would eventually have to get you a new engine. but they might not want to do it right away, and you could go a few months with your vehicle sitting in the driveway....
