OK, heres the story.. I got my 94 4dr XLT 4wd ex with 85k miles last summer and after about a month, after starting it within a short period a bunch of times, the engine wouldnt start. meaning i would start the truck to move it around if i were washing it or something and sometimes it would not start. When it doesnt start it cranks but it only gets up to about .5k rpm and the idle is reallllly rough where the car starts to shake..So we took it to our mechanic and 1g later i had new plugs and wires and a bunch of other misc work done to the car. the problem was still there but not as much but after my remote start it got worse. and yesterday the car stalled on a straightaway after it shifted into 4th gear. it started right back up again but im baffled. I also have a new battery in there. Maybe you guys will have an idea so my mechanic doesnt have to search around too much

Sounds like a fuel problem?Did your mechanic change your fuel pump,Fuel pressure regulator, check all the relays?

not sure, ill check though. but whenever i used the electric start my car was more prone to dying right after it started..so i thought maybe the elec sys might have somethin to do with it. thanks for the reply, i need em bad!

Hey, I had the same problem with my '91. The thing that caused all these problems on mine was the Coolent Temp Sensor. That fixed the not starting when hot, rough idle, black smoke, wasting fuel, tranny shifting into O/D.
That little piece of s@&t causes a lot of problems.
So I would replace it before you go spend $ on all the test and stuff. I got mine for $20.00 at Napa.
Hope this helps out...

after i went 4x4ing and rolled my 94 and got it back onto its wheels it had some wierd engine problems...... turned out to be that my MAF was completly covered in dirt..meaning it was mud that clogged it up....
