my setup is in my sig below, and im thinking of replacing my pioneer with something a little better. are there any HUs that are worth it to replace my pioneer with for some better SQ or mp3 capability? or would it be a waste of money? btw, i searched around, but my questions is a little more specific being that i already have a HU and am just debating if its worth it to get something better, say within the range of 350-400 dollars. thanks...

Eclipse, Alpine, and Clarion all have great SQ.

I know JVC doesn't always have the best following, but the KD-SH99 is far and away the best mp3 cd player on the market. Go to crutfield and do a search for mp3 cd players, and then use the compare feature. I have been nothing but happy with it, the motor that controls the faceplate even held up through an AK winter, which was the thing I was most dubious about. MP3 playback is great, 250+ songs on one cd... got to love it. And the faceplate is brushed aluminum, which I love...

that is a great mp3 headunit. three sets of 5 volt ouputs are really important if you want a hard hitting SQ system.

im thinking of the apline 7892 or 7893, they are within my range and have exactly what i need, except for mp3 but oh well, cd-rw works good enough. thanks for the advice.

but the KD-SH99
that's what i have and i love it. just sometimes if you have the face extended out and the bass up the HU rattles, but if you put it back flush it doesnt, maybe that's just mine.
and like mentioned above, the mp3 support is superb. now i burn 3-4-5-6 albums (each album in a seperate folder) onto one cd and i can listen to each album seperately. like Tool, they have 5 albums, ive got a cd with them all and can pick which i'd like to listen to. that is a wonderful head unit, and its features to control the mids/highs/lows/and bass boost are superb. its an all around great HU.

with a Clarion DXZ-825 and wow what a difference.
I can't believe how much better it sounds plus I got it for 262 shipped from www.savinglots.com.
It's loaded with just about very feature you can want except it might not play MP3s.
About 100 bucks cheaper than Crutchfield.
