Hmm... seen a couple people do this. Want to know your guys' opinion on this. I have a Silver 2k2 Explorer and I was thinkin' about removin my roof racks. What do you guys think? Does it look better without them.... by the way, I'm goin for opposite look, I'm lowering mine, not getting into the offroading

how are you going to lower a 2002?
i thought that was impossible......
i would just take off the crossbars but leave the rails in case you ever wanted or need to use them later down the road....... anyway, if you remove them be forewarned that they are literally bolted to the roof and youd need to find someway of filling in the holes

If you are going for the street look I say go for it. It gives it a more sleek look.

I removed my roof rails. I think it looks great, I painted my screws the same coloras the truck and you dont even notice them. Plus them things weigh a ton. I got more H.P. and better gas mileage after.

Better gas mileage and H.P.? Hmm I don't care if they are bolted I will get them off just for that haha :D

i took my roof rack off but i didnt notice any hp gain or really gas mileage(actually i think mine has gotten worse lately and I have been driving like a sissy) maybe i need to paint the silver part on the screw black and that will give me more hp and better gas mileage.

focbl  They don't weigh that much. C'mon I could save that much weight wearing sandles instead of Nike's. :D LOL I think it just looks faster!;)

Do you think if I ditch my floor mats it would give me a little more horse power? :p

RoadEnforcer

maybe if you take out the hook that holds the driver's side floor mat down. Cleaning it and getting all of that heavy dirt off of it will help also haha.

RoadEnforcer  Wow, Nice and Harsh the way I like it. However, I couldn't have said it better.

Besides, you can always put it back on if you don't like it!

I just took my roof rack off today, and I think it looks much better. The only question I have is what did you do with the screws? I screwed them back in but I am worried about water getting in the holes. I screwed them down tight so I dont think it will leak, but who knows. Any ideas.....

Since someone bumped this to the top and there hasn't been a new post in a year and a half, I'm going to be civil and make the best of it.

I had my roof rack on a year before I took it off. I defenitely like the look without it better.
