Before/After
section525 06-07-2002, 06:26 PM Last one:
TarHeel085 06-11-2002, 03:44 PM man i have always liked your truck, keep the mods comin!
section525 06-11-2002, 03:52 PM Thanks! I'm going to order headers in the next day or two. And hopefully get my new wheels and tires by next weekish. I'll keep you guys posted!
addkev 06-11-2002, 03:57 PM We have the same set up but your truck looks taller than mine.
Looks good.
section525 06-13-2002, 09:49 PM Okay.. I said I'd get my wheels by next weekish.. but I meant in two days (apparently). Cause I got 'em.
32x11.50 BFG MTs on American Racing Baja 15x8s.
section525 06-13-2002, 09:51 PM And yes, to my dismay, trimming needed to be done. I guess every Explorer is different, cause I know some of you have 32's with just TT and shackles and only rub while hard-core offroading. But I couldn't get out of the tire shop without a little trimming. But it was well worth it IMO.
section525 06-15-2002, 10:40 PM Put my Add-A-Leafs on tonight!! Got 1 5/8" out of 'em!
Kinnish 06-16-2002, 12:28 AM Awesome man, that is of course "top-notch". Keep us updated with your mods I'm guessing you have more up your sleeve. How hard was it to put the add a leafs in and is it alot stiffer in the rear?
section525 06-16-2002, 12:42 AM Add-A-Leafs were cake. It was just a long process. I did them by myself and it took about an hour and a half. I didnt notice much in the stiffness of the ride. Drives great. My next mod are headers, which should be arriving in a day or two!
section525 07-03-2002, 04:19 PM What do you guys think I should do next?
I was thinking about a 2" body lift
Clear front corners
Maybe remove pin-striping
I need some ideas!
espnfreak 07-03-2002, 04:34 PM Clear corners always look good, and they arent too expensive either. I picked up a set for 35
section525 07-03-2002, 04:40 PM From where? Do you have any pics of them?
coolchriscush 07-03-2002, 04:44 PM do all three, but i would suggest a 3'' body lift. clear corners look great on that color explorer(i have the same color and it looks good) and removing the pinstripping takes like 3 minutes.
espnfreak 07-03-2002, 04:47 PM ebay, they look the same as everybody elses clear corner pics
section525 07-03-2002, 04:49 PM I was thinking a 3" but I just got 32s.. and I figure that when they wear down I could get 33s under there with just a 2" lift. That way it wouldnt look as funny with 32s and a 3" lift.. you know?
section525 07-03-2002, 04:54 PM Chris.. do you have any recent pics of your truck??
Fischer 07-03-2002, 06:16 PM 4" lift. haha I am getting one as soon as that damn lottery hand picks me.
What did you do with your old wheels? I need a teardrop for my spare..
Looks good man
coolchriscush 07-03-2002, 06:54 PM no, sorry i dont have a digital camera. it looks better without the pinstripping huh! :) well i liked it when i did it. if i can get my hands on a digital camera then ill get you some pics of the clear corners. i got mine at www.clearlights.com they are $54 there. they look great, and they are good quality, not some cheap brand that will look crappy in a week. ive had em for about a month and a half and there is no sign of yellowing or moisture build up. after you wash your car they do get a little foggy but it disapears right away.
section525 07-03-2002, 07:26 PM Do they match the factory lights well?
jasonb 07-07-2002, 11:51 PM your before/after up there looks like two different color vehicles! is the lighting just crazy on the "before"? anyway, nice looking truck! good call with the pinstriping..
section525 07-08-2002, 03:01 AM Yeah.. the lighting and digital camera were both pretty bad. But it is the same truck. I'll post a better picture of it without the pin striping tomorrow.
Thanks for the comps!
section525 07-08-2002, 05:44 PM No pin stripe pics on my website!
liquidx9 07-10-2002, 02:03 AM couple quick questions about your ride man, if you dont mind. first tangent... whered you get the headers, how much, and what kinda performance are you getting out of your v8 now?
also, what kinda gas mile you getting on that life, thanks in advance, ive never liked green cars, but i can honestly say, yours is the first green vehicle thats ever dropped my jaw, VERY impressive
section525 07-10-2002, 02:09 AM Thanks Liquid!
I got my headers from fordpartsnetwork.com
Contact Torrie @ torrie@fordpartsnetwork.com and let him know you're with the forum. I got them shipped to my door for $181.99
The performance now is much better. My 40mph to 65mph is much quicker. I feel nothing but good things about these headers. As far as gas mileage... I'd say I'm getting about 15mpg or so. Its hard to tell exaclty because my speedo is pretty far off.
Again, thanks for the comps!
liquidx9 07-10-2002, 02:14 AM thanks for the quick response.. i suppose i should just search for it, but how the hell do you correct the speedo? thats about the only thing stopping me from jacking up the limited, i know it can be done though
expo5.0 07-10-2002, 02:16 AM i haven't seen this thread until right now. does this mean that they actually still have the headers in stock? i would be very interesting if they were still around at fordpartsnetwork
section525 07-10-2002, 02:19 AM You can buy a new speedo gear. I heard they're only like $7 or so. I also heard they're pretty easy to install. It's just not one of my top priorities...
section525 07-10-2002, 02:22 AM Expo5.0 I just got mine late last month. I'm sure you can still get 'em.
liquidx9 07-10-2002, 02:24 AM thanks man, anyone have any idea where? also, who wants to see if we can set up a group buy for headers.. the demand is there
section525 07-19-2002, 06:59 PM Got some clear front corners on!
What do you think?
coolchriscush 07-19-2002, 08:45 PM sweet! im glad you decided to get some, they look awesome! :)
coolchriscush 07-19-2002, 08:46 PM oh, if you still have the orange bulbs in there you should either replace them with clear or superwhite ones, or just spray a light layer of silver paint over them to get rid of the orange in there.
TarHeel085 07-20-2002, 12:45 AM i love the clear corners look, keep the mods comin!
mjjohnston 07-24-2002, 10:59 PM section525,
I have the same truck as you, even the same color, minus the mods...for right now! The question I have, and its probably a stupid one, but here goes! Why did the ProComp Add a Leaf do for you? I know the T/T and shackles adds 2", but what about the add a leaf?
section525 07-24-2002, 11:29 PM I got 1 5/8" from the add-a-leafs! From what I hear (and read) thats an impressive gain.
section525 07-31-2002, 05:49 PM The body lift is on!!
3" PA 95-97 Ranger
section525 07-31-2002, 05:50 PM I'm still going to raise the bumpers... this is just an "in between picture." I'd also like the thank Jefe for being able to help me with this project from over 500 miles away!
Can someone please enlighten me on how to post multiple pics in the same post?? (I'm usually pretty computer literate)
Fischer 07-31-2002, 06:20 PM Can someone please enlighten me on how to post multiple pics in the same post??
I have been asking that question for months.
Anyway, section525,
I noticed you did away with your running boards. I have them currently and was wondering what you have to do, if anything, afterwards to make it not look like I just removed the running boards? Plugs or what.
I have been thinking about getting someone to trade me the rocker panel (non-running boards) jobbie for the running boards.
Thanks!
section525 07-31-2002, 07:02 PM Fischer.. I didn't do anything after I removed the boards. I still have all the holes there and visible. It doesn't bother be enough to do anything about it.
I'm sure you could find someone who would trade you rocker panels, although probably not on this board). I'd look for people bidding on runningboards on ebay and email them. Good luck.

Lookin' Good http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif
As far as posting multiple pictures: The way you're doing it, you can't. You can only attach one picture per post. If you were hosting the pictures somewhere else and using the [img ] tag, then you could do it.
Kinnish 07-31-2002, 11:46 PM Damn you SUCK!!!!
That looks awesome man. Enlighten us on how hard/easy it was to do a body lift. Keep up the good work....
section525 08-01-2002, 12:15 AM The body lift was fairly easy. Well, getting the blocks under the body was at least. And aside from the bumper brackets not working, there was one "catch" I was unaware of.
On V8 Explorers, the radiator comes with an "extra" tab on the driver's side. After hours of fighting this thing, Jefe told me that they just cut the tab off (when doing COOLCHRISCUSHs V8 X). If I would have known I had to do that the install would have been much smoother.
Other than that the job was cake. Just time consuming. My stock bolts came out fairly easy for being 6 years old.
NoBoundaries 08-05-2002, 12:17 PM Hey section525, your X looks great.
Just curious, what's the offset on your wheels?
coolchriscush 08-05-2002, 02:03 PM glad to hear you got the bodylift! it looks great! i get my car back tonight and i finally got a digital camera so ill take some pics. jefe is just the bodylift king now lol. i actually first heard of the radiator problem from warform when he did his v8 3'' bodylift. so i guess its the same problem for all v8's. well your sure lookin good!

I was always under the impression that something had to be done to fill the holes. You mean that if I took the runningboards off, I could just leave the holes there and not worry about it?
section525 08-18-2002, 02:44 PM Chase... I'm not sure if you have to fill the holes or not. I think as long as you're not in a rust-prone enviornment, you'll be okay. I've had my runningboards off for about 2 years now and everything looks fine still.
NoBoundries... sorry I didn't see your post before. I'm not sure what the offset is, but I can find out for you.
section525 08-18-2002, 02:54 PM They are 5.25 (http://www.americanracing.com/applicationguide/final.asp?detail=1725866&descript=15X8+BAJA+5x4%2E5+20MM&picture=172&make=FORD%20TRUCK/VAN/SUV&model=EXPLORER%2C2%264WD+15+INCH+1990%2D2001&Comments=) " backspacing.
Eddie X 08-18-2002, 03:11 PM 5.25?????
I went to the link, but, still find it hard to believe your running that much backspacing. If so, this is what I wanted to do with 10" rims, instead of 3.75" like everyone else is saying.
Eddie X 08-18-2002, 03:14 PM I forgot, I'm a 1st gen X and might rub on the radius arms. Maybe 2nd gen X can run more offset.

Hmmm...Would Atlanta be considered a rust prone area? I'm pretty sure it isn't, but I'm not positive. But oh well, I can still get happy that I know I can just take the runningboards off.
Thanks for the info!
Fusion213 08-18-2002, 05:46 PM Yeah, when I did the bodylift on my V8, I was looking frantically on the site for anyone who did a body lift to a V8, no luck. So I just said heck with it and we hacked that tab off. I was glad nothing came spewing out... until my friend started pulling out the sawzall... he nicked the a/c condensor and well... we breathed in a lot of freon.
section525 08-18-2002, 07:14 PM Hey Warform.. do you have any pics of your X?

Premier 01-13-2005, 01:14 AM Your getting a superlift?
section525 01-13-2005, 03:20 AM Your getting a superlift?
Only if you want to sell me yours. I went into the shop today and they wanted $2100 just for the lift. A little more and I could go SAS.
jimbo74 01-13-2005, 05:36 AM time for a solid axle ;) i mean you already rebuilt the whole truck, a couple times... might as well do the SAS ;)
the only orignal part of your truck is the vin # and then just barely :)
section525 01-13-2005, 05:42 AM It's looking that way...
jimbo74 01-13-2005, 06:03 AM i say its tool ate to ever figure of converting your 4x2 back to stock, so might as well just bite the bullet, spend a couple extra bucks and do an SAS....
just a note, wouldnt have getting a 4x4 94, then doing a 5.0 swap with a body swap have been easier? i htink i answered my own question ;)
section525 01-13-2005, 10:57 PM NEW NEXT MODS
Locker,Locker,Locker!
WINCH!
Just got back from trying out the new selectable tcase. There was a lot of snow and it was the nasty snow that you can't get traction on and you just sink up to the skid plates.
It started out with two Explorers (me and my buddy. Buddy is 100% stock V6 4WD). Ended up running into a group of 7 others (1 Sami, 3 SA Toyotas, S10, Ranger, T100). Every single person got stuck at least once. The T100 was buried. So was the S10. And of course they were blocking the trail to get back down the hill. It was a lot of fun though.. sorta. :D But the 4LO worked great. But I am going with a winch here soon. It would have made my day (and early evening) a lot more fun!
A couple pics:
Premier 01-14-2005, 12:53 AM Great pics. You were the leader?
section525 01-14-2005, 12:57 AM Great pics. You were the leader?
No. The other 7 trucks just came up behind us. Turned into like a block party.. but on the trail. :D
Premier 01-14-2005, 01:01 AM I know you got more pics than that. Lets see em :D
section525 01-14-2005, 01:05 AM I have a total of 5 pics and 1 minute of video.. give me a sec..
Premier 01-14-2005, 01:15 AM Cool :D I need to live vicariously through others, untill I get my truck running.
How many were locked, do you know?
section525 01-14-2005, 01:21 AM Cool :D I need to live vicariously through others, untill I get my truck running.
How many were locked, do you know?
:D
The Zuk and the 3 Toyotas were. The T100 was a hazzard.. so was the S10. And my buddy's stocker Explorer on street slicks was a little out of it's element. :p
Warning: Extremely Ghey Video...
http://www.section525.com/011205.wmv
Man I wish we had snow to play in here, looks like fun.
section525 01-14-2005, 01:46 AM Oh yeah.. there was body damage too. The S10 was getting yaked out by one of the Yotas.. slid into the winch plate with the non-functioning winch.. and put a nice big ol dent below the tail light. It was a pretty nice.. newer S10 too.
Is it just me, or is shackle on that yota in the last pic just hanging there, not connected to the frame?
section525 01-14-2005, 02:12 AM It has the funky leafs sping setup. Where the front of the leaf is mounted to the frame... but the rear is mounted to another leaf deal.. that is sorta hinged... to allow for more droop. :D
Whoa. Never heard of that. Sounds crazy.
section525 01-15-2005, 12:45 AM My buddy IM'd me some more pics:
section525 01-15-2005, 12:48 AM More...
That Suzuki tried to pull me out right there.. I couldn't even tell it was tuggin on me. :D
BeauJ 01-15-2005, 12:55 AM So tell me, who out of the whole bunch had the most HP? ;)
I think I can answer that one. It was the Zuk.
section525 01-15-2005, 01:10 AM So tell me, who out of the whole bunch had the most HP? ;)
I don't know. How much HP does a stock T100 have (while buried in the snow)? :D
terdrocket 01-15-2005, 08:53 AM What is that strange white stuff you are playing in?? :p
Thats pretty cool to play all day, go home, and NOT have to wash the truck off.
bmxking5 01-15-2005, 12:53 PM Looks like a lot of fun. Where are you planning to mount the winch?
Keep up the good work! :)
V8BoatBuilder 01-15-2005, 03:28 PM Nice pics :)
section525 10-11-2005, 03:10 PM Finally got a Sport cluster to match my Sport radio surround (thanks BeauJ).
Pardon the dust. This Explorer isn't really a daily driver anymore. :p
410Fortune 10-11-2005, 03:15 PM that kind of deep snow is the most challenging thing to wheel in for a vehicle with tires. It takes a HUGE tire compared to the vehicle weight, aired WAY down and both ends locked to get floatation on that stuff, otherwise you go no where (like the S-10 picutred, that sucker is burried) . :)
BeauJ 10-11-2005, 04:19 PM I like the cluster. Looks kinda like the one I sold you. And how did you manage to only have one mile on your truck? ;)
section525 10-11-2005, 04:25 PM I just hit 1,000,000 miles.
section525 10-11-2005, 11:23 PM SAS that bitch.
I will. Full width 01+ Super Duty axles.
section525 10-11-2005, 11:34 PM I have work from now till Christmas. So I'll have January through March off.
section525 01-16-2006, 03:04 PM Well I picked up a '95 crappy short console. The armrest part is coming. I forgot it at the yard.
Also, the required dash pieces that fill in the holes.
I am just test fitting it here. It's not exactly a bolt-in, so I'll have to drill some holes and whip out the super glue. :p
section525 01-19-2006, 06:22 PM It's in. Permanently.
EMG7895 01-19-2006, 06:46 PM Do you have any Idea if that style cupholder will fit a 93 console? I have the double side by side ones and they suck.
Premier 01-19-2006, 07:11 PM Looks good :) Like mine haha
newc5188 01-19-2006, 09:03 PM Whats the deal with your shifter?? I may have missed that part of the whole topic and if I did sorry.
section525 01-19-2006, 09:47 PM Yes that style should fit your '93.
The shifter is short cause of the body lift.
SkanlaxJMO 01-19-2006, 09:56 PM and that is the T-case shifter right not the Transmission shifter
section525 01-19-2006, 09:59 PM and that is the T-case shifter right not the Transmission shifter
10-4
SkanlaxJMO 01-19-2006, 10:05 PM lol when you put in the sport-trac cluster did you loose anything besisdes the correct milage?
section525 01-19-2006, 10:10 PM Yes. The check engine light. And everytime a door would open the "gas cap" light would go on instead of the door ajar. So I have now put the cluster in my 98 mountaineer.

Almost three years since you last posted in here. Wow.
section525 11-08-2008, 11:23 PM Yeah, I'm way behind. Too much working, not enough garage time.
