Hey guys... well i wana make my X faster.... all i have right now is a K&n filter..... I want flowmasters... one of my questions is... will a KKN intake make a big dif over the K&N filter? and if so what should be done first? KKM or flowmasters? anyone have any other ideas for a 5.0? how well will a chip work for me? i have 3.73 gears.. should i change them? gimmie some ideas!!!

i dont think you will notice much of a difference between the k&n and the kkn IF you do this one thing. cut your airbox in half. leave the back half intact (as a heat sheild) and just cut the front of it off. if you look at it in stock form, the hole in the "silencer" on the front of your airbox is only like 2.5" in diameter. thats not big enough for a V8. do that, and get a flowmaster or whatever you prefer. the factory cats are actually pretty free-flowing, but the stock muffler and "resonator" muffler are very restrictive. cut that crap off and put a quality muffler on there (i have flows and i think nothing sounds better on a 5.0.) some 4:10's would be nice, but would be a little "revvy" on interstate @70-75mph. also, you would have the added expense of changing the frontend, too. 3:73's are actually pretty good, i would stick with 'em and spent that $1k elswere... for that much you could have the stock heads ported and get a cam. this would be a huge increase in performance. the factory heads are pretty good, the stock X cam sucks bigtime.

a 150 shot of nos is a good choice. Quadcam a buddy of mying did a 125 shot on his AWD and it halls butt.

I would go with the KKM and a custom cat back exhaust.

yea, NOS instead of gears. think about it. you've already got 3:73's, for half the price of a gear swap you could have a 100-125 shot. think of it as a cheap supercharger that you can use when you want... just make sure you get rid of the factory junk airbox and exhaust first.

I am thinking of going with a larger NOS system if anyone is interested in this ZEX kit... I filled the bottle twice so it hasn't been used but a couple times. Everything is there for the 5.0 or 4.6 engines. It is designed for 75-100-125hp boosts. Lemme know if anyone is interested. Make me an offer... serious offers please. :p
question on the NOS.... what would need to be done to my truck to make the NOS not blow my truck up? will it work with stock? any and all info welcome.. also what would you be looking for the kit?

The zex works great stock! When I put it in, I did nothing to the engine besides a better intake and a high flow exhaust... to get more air flowing freely. On the downside, there are two ahead of you on purchase but I just have to get the guts up to remove it from my truck... waiting on my venom system...
any more info on the NOS? How much you looking for it?

The s/c that I purchased, originally was on a 96 explorer. With minor mods, I made it work in mine. Goto www.powerdyne.com or www.superchargersonline.com. Hope that helps.
