I have a 1997 Explorer with a 4.0 SOHC engine. I want to replace the PCV valve. Is this something that I can do myself, or does this need to be done by a technician? Also, where is the PCV valve located in the engine? Thanks for your information...

Can you say "FREE" replacement? Ford nor the Dealers will tell you that your SOHC gets a free replacement PCV valve at 60,000 miles unless you're in Canada or California. This is located on page 3 of your "Servise Guide" booklet. Anyways, the location of the PCV valve is right behind the rear right side of the upper intake. It has a "T" fitting on top. If you look at the upper intake, you'll see what looks like "Grap Handles" on each side. There is a hose on the rear of each one. These can be traced right to the PCV valve. Hope this helps...
