Do you think that Israel could surivive w/o US military aid and money?

No way, all of their military hardware except for some small arms came from us. Other neighboring Arab countries would come in and wipe Israel out without the threat of U.S. intervention.

Israel buys all of our military equipment. Its not like we have been donating the stuff to their cause. While we are allied with them against the evils of the Arab world, we are not offering out freebies of military supplies or military aide.

So, I think Israel could survive without our full support. Full meaning we still sell them arms and other weapons (planes, tanks, etc) but we offer them no direct military aide.

>>Most Americans are not aware how much of their tax revenue our government sends to Israel. For the fiscal year ending in September 30, 1997, the U.S. has given Israel $6.72 billion: $6.194 billion falls under Israel's foreign aid allotment and $526 million comes from agencies such as the Department of Commerce, the U.S. Information Agency and the Pentagon. The $6.72 billion figure does not include loan guarantees and annual compound interest totalling $3.122 billion the U.S. pays on money borrowed to give to Israel. It does not include the cost to U.S. taxpayers of IRS tax exemptions that donors can claim when they donate money to Israeli charities. <<

,,,, and what do we get in return?

Heres a link to USAIDs site where you can get a primary source for various outlays to all countries going back to 1949- and running up to 1999. A good primary source. Its a search page so you can search by country, or check the total the US puts out.

i say yes.. but not forever. yes they have a very good military. they should, its US made equipment. they have proven they can hold their own in the past. yes we give them tons of aid, but the US gives aid to anyone who asks for it just about. maybe not to such a degree. our govt tends to give more aid to other democracies rather than radical states.
i believe israel could hold their own for a while with what they have. eventually the sheer number of arabs that hate them would win i think.

I think that Israel is very strong due to their weapons, they could take out a a couple of arab states if they had to using their nuclear battleships. Anyway..what does Israel give the U.S...Plenty, we get a mass amount of inteligence from Israel about the middle east, and if we ever needed staions we could use Israels land and ports if we ever fought a big war against the arab states. We also get specialized training from Israel as well as no restrictions on medical research.
