Hey there I'm new to the forum here I really hope I'm posting this in the right section.

Anyways I have a 1993 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer, I'm having transmission troubles and I'm looking to get a new one from the wreckers, just so it's driveable when I trade it in. The only problem is I have no idea what transmission is in it. Would anyone be able to help me out here, or atleast point me in the right direction?

Thanks for the help,

Kevin

Either Mazda R-1 5 speed manual or A4LD 4 speed automatic.

Be careful, in either case you want to make usre you get an Explorer transmission. You see they have been building the same 5 speed and automatic for many years. So it is possible that you will go to the wreckers and buy an automatic transmission that came from like an 84 Ranger. Over the years they upgraded the p[arts in these transmissions, and after 92 they got even stronger. So if you were to install a 88 tranny in a 93 truck it's not gonna last long at all............So just make sure you get a 93-94 tranny.........

Ok sorry one more new guy question for today. The torque convertor, I assume it's seperate from the tranny correct? If so am I going to need a part number for that as well when I call the wreckers or what? If so does anyone know that part number?

Thanks again I really appreciate all the help.
