Latley in SoCal its finally getting warm, like above 90 dgrees.

But it seems that in the heat I have lost some of the power. My engine seems sluggish when I accelerate when its real warm in the middle of the afternoon. I don't notice it when its cold at night or in the mornings.

Does heat have a big affect on your engines performance?

I have a K&N cone filter, bigger MAF, and the A/C does not work so thats off.

Yes it does. Especially with a cone filter designed to take in more air. You will find your truck will run great in 70 degree weather.

Mine runs just fine in the Florida heat.

Yup, now that it's getting hot, my Explorer can hardly get out of its own way. It's pretty normal, especially with an open element air filter. BTW, you live near me. I'm in Moorpark.

I notice it on mine anytime the temperature gets above 90 which is basically from late February to early November.

I've noticed this too. When the temp is near 70, my truck will run it's absolute best.

When the engine gets too hot the fan really kicks in and that is a horsepower drainer like no other.

colder air = denser air. denser air = more air molecules (duh!). more air molecules = more fuel molecules injected. more fuel = more power.

so, colder air = more power ;) Sorry, I'm in a strange mood.
