A little help needed here on my trans. As you can see, I have a '91 XLT w/ the auto trans. When I get on the highway, it seems as though it won't shift into overdrive. At about 70 mph it runs at about 35-36k rpms. I know it's old and it has a ton of mileage, but is there anything I can do? I would greatly appreciate any help.

There is an electrical plug on the tranny that might have come loose. Mine was taken off by a mechanic, and he forgot to put it back on. I had no overdrive.
You might want to check to see if it came loose before you go, intoa repair shop.

Do you or anyone happen to know where this plug happens to be located? If you don't know, I greatly appreciate your help anyway.

The plug is on the rear half of the transmission. It is about halfway up the side from underneath. If you look underneath, you will see wires. They are for the transmission, you really can't miss them.

It might be the torque converter. Not to be pessemistic or anything, but usually the torque converter goes before anything else in the tranny. Sometime this goes undetected by alot of drivers, but you might want to get an experts opinion.
