Sometimes I have to let my truck set for 15 minutes to one hour before it will start again. This happens without notice or symtoms. Then it will not happen again for a week or two.

Also, my fuel gage works sometimes and sometimes it will not work.

Please Help.

....And what happens- does it turn over without starting, or just does nothing?

I know exactly what wrong with it. It's your Idal Speed Controll Motor. First call a dealership with your ven#, due to many models on all Fords have recalls. If there isn't a recall on it, first remove it and clean it inside and out. See if that works. If it doesn't then replace it. It's about 80-100 bucks i think for the part. I had the same problem, I first cleaned mine and it worked fine for a while, but now I think that I will end up replacing it. I think early 90's are the years that where recalled.

I wrote that it's was the Idol Speed Control Motor a min. ago.

The symtoms are:

1. The engine starts, but only with yyour foot on the gas. If you take your foot off it stops.

2. A bad idol speed control motor can also cause a waveyness in the engine.

3. The hotter the weather is the worse it is.

Just had my Idle Control Motor replaced. It cost me $117 and since Im not too handy had to pay $150 for labor.

Changing the idle speed control motor is really easy, just two screws and one wire clasp. 5 min. job.

Uggh, well it looks like I got charged for 2 hours labor. They cleaned the throttle body and all that junk but thats another 5 minutes. I guess they included the waiting for the part from the auto part store to be delivered in the 2hours. I need a new shop...

YEAH I HAVE CLEANED THE THROTAL BODY ON MINE TOO.... LATER I READ IN THE HANES BOOK NOT TO THAT, DUE TO THERE BEING A PROTECTIVE COATING ON THE METAL. BUT STILL THAT WOULDN'T KEEP ME FROM CLEANING IT. IF IT NEEDS IT, IT NEEDS IT.
