Im leaving for school on aug 13, and i need a car before then. Well i dont really NEED one, but it would definately be easier. I found a few 2000 black, green and blue limited's but they are around 20k or more. I just saw one at a dealership, it was a black with 32k mles for $20 k. it had the usual scratches cus itz a black car, and it had the front brush guard but it seemed liek someone hit him or he hit someone, cus it was pushed in a bit and the left front side of the hood had a dent in. it seemed ok, but im gonna go for a test drive soon, but i dont know if i should jump on this one, wait a couple days and see what else i can find, or just buy another cheap car and sell that next year to trade in for a 2000 ltd im happy with, or just not buy a car now and wait till i find something.... Any suggestions??

Not to tell one what to do but...If your looking at a $15000 chebby and $20K used X's, why not price a NEW X? With 0% interest for 60 months verses 7+% on a used vehicle, you'd be better off getting a new X. $15-20K at 7% for 60 months will run you 300-396/month while a new X at 0% for 60 months will run you from 333-416/month on 20-25K. So the question is what price can you afford.

$15,000 @ 7% for 60 months = 300/month (Used vehicle)
$20,000 @ 0% for 60 months = 333/month (New X)

$20,000 @ 7% for 60 months = 396/month (Used vehicle)
$25,000 @ 0% for 60 months = 416/month (New X)

And that's if you can get a 7% interest rate. Depending on your credit or if you need/can get a co-signer, you may end up to a 14+% which takes the used car payments even higher.

Stick it out until you find something you like. Don't waste all the time and money getting something you're not going to be happy with. Drive the Buick in the mean time if you can't go without a vehicle.

I'd wait til you find something you are really happy with. I wish I would have done that when I bought my car, because afterwards i really wanted a v8

I need to move to wherever YOU live....

I went and visited acouple Ford Dealers, and all the new 2002 Xs are 27k and up.....

450/mth for $27k....too rich for my blood....

Its funny.....the last dealer I stopped at I met a salesman who actually encouraged me to WAIT a year....he says that my 94 Explorer (with 89k on it) isnt going to lose any more value ("Its about as low as it is going to get") and that next year the 2002s will be selling (i year old) for $18k or so, judging by THIS year....2001 vehicles with 2ok ar selling for $16,900.....he was definately NOT a high pressure sales guy!

I just had my friend (owns the local FORD dealership) get a 2001 Sport at the auction for my son. It has everything but leather, sunroof and CD changer. It was a FORD Corperate vehicle with only 14,000 miles on it. Got it for $14,800. So if you know somebody that can go to the auto auctions, that may be a way to go also. If not, E-Mail me. My friend will pretty much get anything for anybody. Heck, he sells vehicle to people everywhere. Alabamba, N.C., MI, Ohio and so on.
