..I have a '97 XLT 5.0.

Haven't a clue what rim size I have but I'll guess 15x7????

look on the tire. It prob says 255/70 XX find out what the x's are

Yup...what Chucky said. If it says 255/70 R15...then it is a 15x7.

Yup, they are 15x7's then.

Did other '97 XLT owners get the 15x7's when they got it new?

Reason Im asking is because I got this truck from a used car lot and I wonder if they replaced the rims. Were the original rims shipped with the truck 16x7's (?).

15x7 is very a possible size to have from a factory X.
So most likely Yes, there are many others that have the same size.

Pardon my ignorance, but what do you mean by "31's". I was just looking to replace my stock rims with the same size, but an after market manufacturer. I am looking at Sendel, they make a model called "type 10". Then I would put on Goodyear 30x950 R15 GSA's.

31's meaning 31x1050 r15
next size tire up from what you want to get there.
Cool, take some pictures after you get your new rims and tires!

they do on mine, but im not 100 percent sure on yout style X. Do a search, it should come up. I think it may with some MINOR plastic trimming.
